Wednesday night can't come soon enough

Uh, 3 NT's! Pretty darn impressive for anyone, let alone, a mid-major. At the end of the day, there's absolutely no denying that fact. :noidea:

I don't think anyone's "denying" anything.
Fact is they've done enough to rest on their laurels, to be confident in who they are, and shouldn't have to worry about SU.
And yet...that's all they seem to do.
What's effin' with them is why those 3 NT's aren't enough to get them out of purgatory.
By targeting us, they're saying: "We think we're better than the top program in the BE, yet we can't get a seat at the table"?
In an odd way, it would be flattering...if it wasn't so pathetic.

That's what you get when you have a 20 year history and a bunch of 20 year olds posting nonsense.

I'm not sure why you chose to focus on the word, denying, as I certainly didn't highlight it in anyway. I could've just as easily used the word 'acknowledging' in some fashion as well... :noidea: The whole expansion thing and 'purgatory' as you refer to has nothing to do with basketball, it's all about football, you know that. They have been a top tier program for the past two decades and if expansion was basketball related, UConn certainly wouldn't be left in purgatory. Thinking otherwise, imo, is just not keeping things real.

Yeah, I don't get that. Why target us? I mean, I understand why they feel that a great athletic department like they have been shouldn't be left out in the cold, but what does that have to do with us?

It's was Pitt they were competing with for the other ACC slot initially, not us.

And can we help it if the BiG wanted Maryland and Rutgers over them?

And while TGD may have been helpful in supplying the ACC with info about Louisville as a conference mate to the ACC, we all know that was mostly an FSU/Clemson "southern" deal thing.

Cheers,
Neil

No worries- I was just highlighting the fact that most sane SU fans have no issues with UConn's 3 NTs, and rightfully so.
We've built enough of a program here that our status is measured by more than just the last 20 years.
That's what they can't seem to comprehend, that 3NT's isn't the be-all & end-all when calculating a brand's worth.

Who can blame them. They're headed to the MAC which is where their football program belongs. It should not have a seat at the big boy table.

My sentiments exactly. There used to be some pretty good, fair minded hoops discussion there. But now, idk.

Fitting they're in the NE area. Lot of similarities between them & Patriots fans who didn't know the NFL existed before 2001.

. Seriously. I have been a Patriots fan since forever. Do not ever draw me into being anything like a FUCONNER.

I can name most of the starters from 1981 (1-15) and my autographed Mark VanEegan photo is a prized possession.

In big east regular season games uconn is 40 games behind us. 40!

But according to them all that matters is 3-1

Steve "Porn-Stache" Grogan agrees!

Not sure a couple of teams with the good fortune to be a Power 5 conference program should have a seat at the big boy table either.

And quite a few have never accomplished in 100 years of playing football, what Boise has accomplished in a decade.

Cheers,
Neil

Never considered them a rival. They were completely irrelevant in the BE's formative years. Anyone remember JB's great rival Dom Perno? Didn't think so. When they maintain a successful program for 40 + consecutive years they can talk. Looks like they'll be starting at 1 again.

If we are still talking about the whole scoreboard thing, here's a neat little factoid:

In the all-time series, the record is Syracuse 54 wins, UConn 36 wins.

Thanks for having me look that up, UConn trolls! Now I feel even more superior.

Hey, Marsh, do you know who we play on Wednesday night? How do you feel about that team?

The bus leaves Wednesday morning. I will make the last call for all aboard then.

Not to mention...

"3NTs vs. 1NT" = The Past.

UConn loves talking about The Past. They will beat that dead horse till hell freezes because it keeps them from having to talk about The Future, in which they are completely f$%@ed.

Tis true and just like trust fund kids are fortunate to be born into it, so lucky for them. Schools like vandy or rutgers or northwestern good for them. I don't shed any tears for upstart football programs like uconn or south florida.

I like UCONN and feel bad for their fans.

They deserve better and if taking shots at SU helps them with their collective self-worth, then I say we turn the other cheek as the elder statesman program we are...

I just saw in this Thread that they've declared Kemba Walker a far superior player to Carmelo...

Nothing in this post is true...;)

... but I hate G-Town way worse..

They have little brother syndrome. In spite of all their success and their three championships to our one, they will always be our annoying little brother. I think a good portion of their fan base enjoys rubbing our faces in their championships more than they enjoyed winning them.

I know as a Syracuse alum, I'm supposed to "hate" Georgetown.

But I went to SU from 2003/4-2006/7, and I don't hate Georgetown. In fact, when they had A.I. back in the late 90's, I used to really like them. I think I even had a "gasp", Georgetown Nike hat when I was like 11 or 12.

I do however, hate UConn for their snobbery when they're really nothing more than the Arizona of the east.

After we smoke them again Wednesday we won't be able to smack them again for awhile. That's the most unfortunate part. Because their ability to recruit is going to take a HUGE hit because great players will not want to play for them. Not in whatever midmajor they join. It's going to be hard for them to reload now. I would've enjoyed drilling them like we do Providence. Actually Uconn might want to avoid the Friars in the near future. lol.
