Week 12 Bowl Watch

Flights from DC to Orlando for Camping World weekend are a little expensive...

I'm still gonna go if it's there, but it could be a pretty expensive weekend

Per a report out of the Raleigh News & Observer here are the ACC bowl selection rules:

To review the ACC bowl rules, the Camping World can’t take a 7-win team over a 9-win, but it can take an 8-win team over a 9-win team. The head-to-head result or conference finish have no bearing on the selection process.

The “Tier I” games will divvy up the next four ACC bowl spots. The same “one-win rule” applies. The teams eligible for the Tier I pool will be filled into slots in the Belk Bowl (Charlotte), Pinstripe Bowl (New York) and Sun Bowl (El Paso, Texas).

The Music City (Nashville) and Gator Bowl (Jacksonville, Fla.) have an agreement to take an ACC team three times over a six-year period. The Music City is expected to take an ACC team this season.

This article was interesting, what I got out of it is...
-Pitt will be knocked out of CW consideration with a loss this week to Mia
-Nc St. is very likely to go Camping
-We may be Tier 1 no matter what, even at 9-3

They also rattled off what seems to be the leading candidates for each bowl based on all projections that exist to date.
Camping - Nc St
Sun - BC
Pinstripe- Syracuse
Belk - UVA
Music City - Pitt
*I do think a 9-3 Orange team would get the Sun Bowl and BC at 7-5 drops out of Tier 1

Sun Bowl also looks quite expensive, from what I see out of NY/NJ.

Yeah, I was hoping to get away with like a 1500 dollar trip, but its looking more like 2000+ if flying is involved

Could definitely drive to NY. Everything else has me on a plane

I wouldn't discount driving from DC. It can be done in one long day if need be.

Christmas time and Disney = $$$. Trips on short notice don't benefit a small fanbase which is why bowl games don't care for the best matchups, but how many tickets they can sell.

Thanks for the article. It seemingly clears some things up but there are some things that I'm not sure I agree with. They said things with authority but also didn't reference their sources. Some of the criteria contradicts what is mentioned in this article, which quotes their sources: PS Article

They also said NC State will likely get the Camping World Bowl, but I think that's quite ambitious. Could they? Possibly, but I don't know where they think its likely. This is also an NC paper, so I have doubts. If SU wins, they'll have a far better ranking, the head-to-head, and better conference record. Their 9th win should also have an asterisk as they replaced their only P5 OOC game against WVU with lowly ECU. Funny how the article misses that fact, lol. As far as ticket sales are concerned, I don't see how they would outdraw SU by a huge margin, I think we'd make a good showing with all the NY'ers living in FL.

I just hope we get the opportunity to debate this further, we obviously need to beat BC, but it would also be helpful to look good while doing it. We lost a lot of style points losing to ND, we need to gain some back.

If SU beats BC It should be Sun Bowl or Camping World Bowl and im fine with either would be a shame that a 9-3 team has to go to pinstripe bowl when they have played there quite a bit throughout the years. Although if they lose likely to pinstripe. This team deserves to go somewhere warm, and this team will fare alot better playing somewhere warm.

I must have been gone too long. When I lived in the area, a Sox fan would have been given a pair of shoes, cement shoes, and dropped off in a river or a lake.
Im 38, and have always thought it was a close split between sox and Yankees fans growing up here. Ive never come across a single Mets fan other than Mike Barkowski though lol.
