Week 5 Uniforms for Holy Cross

I lean toward a more traditional look too, but to say we are with those other programs is inaccurate. We have history but we have not maintained success consistently across eras the way they have and are viewed differently. I don't like that, but it's the truth. We have 1 NC from the '50's and one Heisman from the '60's. All of them have multiple undefeated seasons, NC's, and Heisman's spread across multiple eras.
Syracuse is 1 Gordie fluckin Lockbaum from having 2 Heismans.

And dont get me started on ‘56 Heisman voting.

Syracuse is right there in the pantheon of college football greatness.

Don’t let the post P period cloud your vision.

And speaking of P, we should all be promoting his case to the college HOF, because he qualifies and deserves it. Instead you fluckin maroons continue to take shots at him.

Ridonkulous

The teams referenced in the post I responded to are Alabama, Texas, USC, and Syracuse.

Consensus All-Americans
69, 52, 72, 18

Undefeated Seasons (went back to 1945)
7, 3, 4 (I excluded any during the Pete Carroll era), 2
Including 1 loss seasons would greatly weaken any argument for SU

National Championships (according to NCAA.com, including any shared)
11, 3, 5 (I excluded any during the Pete Carroll era), 1

Heisman Winners
2, 2 (an argument can be made for 3, Vince Young), 4 (I excluded the 3 winners during the Pete Carroll era), 1 (should be 2 (Jim Brown), an argument can be made for 3 Don McPherson)

Losing seasons
11, 11, 9, 20 (going back to 1949 the first year for Ben Swartzwalder, add 4 more if you back to 1945)

The choice of 1945 for some categories was arbitrary. It seemed to be a good place to start, it included all of the BS years, and SU was insignificant prior to it.

Objectively the numbers indicate that SU is a very good school but it is not in the same historical class as Alabama and USC. Texas may not be either but still has more consistent success than SU. Do I like SU less? No. Fandom does not have to ignore objectivity.

Awesome thanks, it still doesn’t change the point he is making we are the Orange and not the “blues”.
It’s not going to stop people from actually wanting the team’s primary color featured in the uniform be orange.
Good point though.
It certainly hasn't stopped the school and Nike from always releasing the Blue jersey and blue t-shirts first.

Newsflash...most people don't actually care all that much what color is featured. The people that root for their team, know which team they are rooting for.

I wonder if Oregon fans care or even know what color their team is supposed to wear. As long as it is cool and generates some buzz, I think they are cool with it.

EDIT - If we were the OrangeMEN like we used to be should we be wearing little men on our uniforms because that is/was part of our name too...? Or is it just the color orange. Maybe we should have a little orange man on our helmets instead of an "S".

Indeed we should. With a feather and a tomahawk.

Good luck with that...that would go over about as well as a remake of Blazing Saddles in today's climate.

134 posts about the weekly uniform combination.

The lingering impact of being 2-2.

Actually the MEN part would be taken care of by the people inside the uniform.

The changes with the numbers and striping helped balance out the blue. I thought they were fine.

When Dino leaves — hopefully not soon — some young “woke” scribe will refer to out next prospective coach as he or she or even they.

Book it.

i root for the sabres. the best teams they've had since I can remember anything, they wore a dumb black and red mad cow logo and then went back to blue and yellow but turned the logo into a banana slug. whenever i see any old videos of those teams, instead of thinking "that was fun" i think "that was fun but those uniforms are so bad"

when your team does something great, you'll want them to look the way they're supposed to look years down the line

we could have a unique thing here where we're an instantly recognizable non-factory and nike keeps messing it up

Ha! All I can think about when I read your post was the girl from Cheektowaga that broke up with me because I couldn’t stop ripping on Buffalo.

And I’m from Detroit.
