If this was posted someplace else, I apologize. I made a cursory check and didn’t see it anywhere. Please feel free to delete if I missed it.

The strangest thing. I have never seen players from the opposing team insisting on warming up during halftime on the field WHILE the SU marching band is performing. The VT kicker and punter insisted on being out in the middle of the band’s halftime show kicking balls. In at least two instances kicking balls directly over the heads of the band members. It was so bizarre. It looked like a band rep came out and talked to them, but they ignored her. Finally a more official looking SU official came over and talked to a VT assistant. The players, very stubbornly and slowly eventually ended their efforts.

So odd. Really poor display of common sense and sportsmanship on the part of VT.

The team had the band’s back - down 18 then mess with our band - up 7 at the end. Message received - answer delivered. :)

They came out to warm up way earlier than any kicker I’ve ever seen. Had to be about 8 minutes left and they were out there kicking.

I suspect it was the VT head coach’s way of protesting the way the time clock played out to end 2nd quarter. Petty and glad he got a good old karma enema for it.

Imagine if they did that against Penn St, OSU, or ND. Those fans take their bands serious. That wouldn’t have flown with them.

There was nothing to protest.

QBs knee was down. The clock runs. Because they ’ed up the call, it’s a 10 second runoff or va tech could call a timeout

They chose not to call a timeout. The fact there coach was being crabby around it was bizarre. Didn’t help the announcers didn’t understand basic rules

Was a complete no character maneuver. A good example of the “dick culture “ thats developed over the last ten years.

I was shocked those kickers thought they had the right to do what they want on another team’s field. During a halftime show. And that that VT staff allowed them to act like petulant children.

This is going to result in the league having to issue a memo forbidding visiting teams from having personnel on the field while the band is performing.

Should not be necessary but VT forced the hand of the league.

I wonder if VT gets fined as well? They should. This kind of behavior is arrogant and dangerous. The world does not revolve around some gloried walk-on special teams geeks.

Or the band performing when the visiting team is on the field.

The home team band has control of the field while they are doing their halftime performance. This has been the case for a hundred years.

No memos are needed on that.

I just wondered if the Hokies were trying to create an incident and claimed they were the wronged party.
