Are you an alumni? I assume you are. you have a vested interest, memories, your education helped spring board your career. Could have met your wife who knows. Those memories for people are powerful. Make it more likely to donate, give back etc

I’d argue townies are more fanatic about the Orange than most alumni.

There's some nuance here.

Was townie as a kid, went to SU, am townie again. All of those things contribute to my love of Orange. I think townie as a kid is the biggest contributor to my fandom.

That said. Went to SU is most important to my donations.

And am a townie again is most important to my tickets.

Ok that’s great. So what?

Does that preclude anyone who isn’t from participating? Is that kind of money not acceptable?
everyone is free to do what they want with their money. In this case SU offered up alternatives and it wasnt accepted by the donor. I think that is the simplistic version. In any event, would it be nice if AW was in back in the fold,, but i dont think it will happen.,

The whole idea of relying on donors isn’t sustainable. It’s fine in the short term, but it’s not going to last. Providing money for a building project or as an endowment is one thing. Expecting donors to dish out large sums of money every year, often without any mensurable return or tangible effect, is a losing cause.

Project is exactly right though. Right now is a pivotal time as we want to make sure we make the inevitable super league. Donations can help us get there, and if we can pull it off then the media rights and ticket sales will trounce what we'd do if we don't make it.

im the same as you

There’s a lot of good info here. Reality is Weistman hasn’t done anything for SU and it absurd to think he paid any significant amount of money to the athletes. There’s a reason why he’s not allowed back. Let’s stop this fantasy about Adam Weistman. It’s over. Bball, hope they do well. Not sure they have the people to do it. Fran and his team are working non stop to be successful in recruiting, accountability and community.
Not sure if any of you have been around the bball team in the last few years, but all that is missing and the weed industry is their friend.

I don’t agree that he hasn’t done anything for the basketball program. Seems like someone is jealous of his attention and is using her pull to remove his seat from the table. Theres so much we don’t even know . This book is many chapters deep!

I have no say here but at worst why cant everybody up top, Lallys and wietsman, come together and figure this out. Either way we are all grown ass people and we all love SU so why the fighting. TALK. It fixes or it dont and u put it out there and leave it alone.GoSu. if i had any real cash i would try more than tickets and drinking but i am doing my best.

You can kick rocks with that alum comment. I’m not an alum, I was born and raised here and Syracuse sports has been a huge part of my life. The insinuation that attending SU somehow makes people better than is so unbelievably lame.
Huh? Im talking solely about Adam and where he is in this situation. Obviously Syracuse has tons of loyal local fans who grew up there and are die hard supporters. And I’ve been quite clear we don’t have enough alumni supporters. This is solely about Adam.

I believe dasher story will shed some light on this. He tried really hard to make it happen.

What money would Devo donate? He didn't make it in the NBA and the only big money he made was the TBT 90k lol.
Devo does do a lot of work in the community. He’s had turkey giveaways, coat drives and works with kids. He’s a big supporter of SU and has been involved in raising NIL money including SU’s women’s team.

I'm not talking about his community work, which i appreciate immensly! , I'm talking about his own money to donate to our NIL, like alot of our semi recent alums, they didn't really make it in the NBA so they can't really donate a large sum of money.

Is dasher going to say more or did he sell the rights to his story to Chris Carlson?

Just going to drop this Etan Thomas data point right here.

Etan Thomas career earnings: $45M. Doesn't include book deals or investments. Now he is under no obligation to donate to the program and I do not know if he has donated to the program though it was implied he hasn't. So again my questions are:
1. Has Etan donated at all to hoops or athletics?
2. If not then why in the hell is he starting this bs public fight? Cuz a dude who made $45M and doesn't donate gets no seat at that table. Used to love watching Etan play at Syracuse and while at Washington. Master shot blocker. Not digging this though if the answer to question 1 is a "no" response.

Im a townie and alumni. I think its hard to match the passion of a townie. Jmho.

So you are saying the lally's aren't loyal as well? Since they commented publicly first and much more.
Guess you missed the last several years of Adam using the media and social media to push that he’s a victim and Syracuse basketball would be great if he was allowed to bankroll it. It’s why so many people on here defend him. He won the public opinion battle regardless of actual facts.

Career earnings and current day cash flow are very different things

agree. You can tell this by just analyzing the history of the Wikipedia edits on his page and how his google results are presented along with the source code on his personal website. Just look at the meta description. He very clearly cares about his image. He spends a lot on SEO, image services and buying instagram followers. The list goes on. It’s very easy to spot if you do this kind of work. he’s welcome to do it but it’s very easy to see. And it influences how I think about what he says.

This feels appropriate
