I turned the game off when we were down 17-0. Went back to the recording when i saw we had closed it considerably at halftime.
• I don't know how anyone can watch our team and not notice that 90% of the time, we have one guy dribbling at the top of the 3pt line, and four guys just standing there doing nothing. This, at its essence and in its simplicity, is coaching malpractice. Gross incompetence. It should not ever be this way, and nothing—no promise of 5-star recruits in the future—should excuse this or serve as a rationalization for another year.
• They presented a stat that said we were like 315(?) out of 355 teams in points scored against us. Well, years ago, when JB was supposed to retire and then when he did, and the discussion of succession was ongoing, i and many others said that it would be lunacy to expect that an assistant under JB, after playing only zone, would be able to coach M2M. We saw us trying to play M2M in that one early season/non-con game years ago, and we got trounced until we reverted to zone. Well, this is that same defense. Inept. Horrible. Can't stop anyone, and is prone to consistent failures.
• I don't know how to explain the sloppiness. Unforced errors. And even when errors don't result in actual turnovers, it's just embarrassing how poorly we handle the ball, how we try to make stupid passes, how we can't make the simple, catchable passes.
Some may take solace in the point spread thing. Or in that we mounted a significant comeback after an absurdly pathetic start. I would suggest that there is more 'ability' in the team than is being extracted. And that a good coach could have these same players executing more tightly, with actual offensive plays, and not fumbling and stumbling around for 75% of the game.
