I'd like to see us put together two full halves of offense, and get enough stops out of our defense to win this game.

I'm not sure I expect that though. I expect us to have at least a dead quarter on offense, and for our defense to run out of gas. I expect Boyd will run through our secondary, and I expect us to run a low number of plays on offense. I think we might have enough to win, but it'll be close.

50% chance both teams play caveman football and it comes down to a final score by Pitt because of some simple ill-timed mistake.

10% chance Lester and Shafer decide their best chance to win involves being aggressive on both sides of the ball and we win by two scores in a fairly high scoring affair.

I think we scheme to throw 25-30 times. It's time to unleash ED.

I have no expectations as our young team is simply too green. We will fight and hopefully, make it a game. However, I think Pitt's defense it the real deal and I don't see us scoring a lot of points.

I am prepared for a semi-blowout if the secondary doesn't grow up fast.

In most of our remaining games we will face defenses tougher than the ones we have faced thus far.

I am looking forward to next season!

Remember when we were agreed "2015 IS THE YEAR!!!" not too long ago? Good times.;)

Boy, do I!
I am really somewhat discouraged because, while we have a lot of exciting young skill players, games are won in the trenches and that seems to be a big problem. Do we really have the makings of an O Line next year? I also don't see how we can beat anybody with our secondary. We really need a few JUCO's to fill in the holes from I can see.

Boston College has 4 sophomores in their secondary 2-deep and they seem to be terrific. All told, 11 of their 22 defensive players are sophs or freshmen. Makes me wonder.

try to establish the option, try to establish the run. Be down early vs Pitt. Come out in the 2nd half playing loose and unleashing ED and the WR's becuase we are trying to climb out of a hole. Too Little to late.

Another loss.
I see what you did there...you just described the whole season to date.

Pitt has played more of a college style O this year which means they will be harder to stop. If Chryst were still there I would think we should win this game. Now though it is hard to tell because of the new coaches. If Pitt is for real it will be ugly. If they are still Pitt then we have a really good shot.

I expect for Pitt to make mistakes that we're going to turn into points. We made mistakes on the road, now it's our turn to gain the advantage with Pitt. I've got to hope our offense can move the ball and score because Pitt is going to get their points. We'll have to get ours as well if we want to win. Pitt's mistakes will give us the winning edge.

I expect a thread complaining about the attendance.
I expect Dungey to take a big hit after not sliding / throwing the ball away.
I hope that we can find a way to win this game with a more aggressive offensive scheme.

What would you consider a more aggressive offensive scheme?

I'd like to see our young team continue to compete and have success. I think this is going to be a rock fight, somewhat ugly. I expect the offense to struggle and hopefully the defense to come back stronger than they've been. A win this weekend would be a strong showing, and very attainable.

Since 2000, throw out Gerg because it's always good to throw him out

we're 2-1 when we hold them to 20 or less
we're 1-6 when we don't

i don't remember anything about that win in 2004. rhodes reyes and a bomb from joe fields won it. stuffed the run, made them throw, which they did pretty well.

can we possibly hold them to under 20? i doubt it.

we need to let them run well enough to not throw but so well that we get annihilated and hope we get lucky at the end

I thought it was interesting to see Lester today admit that he called 32 pass plays last week. And that he was less than pleased that Dungey only threw 22 times. He wants that fixed. I think that 32 pass plays called in a game a team is leading for the vast majority of the game is pretty healthy (yes, Dungey likely threw 3-4 passes in OT).

But a lot of people on the board want more throwing? Namely Milly. And I am not saying this notion is terribly flawed. I'd argue primarily that we need to try to throw the ball down field a bit more. This is where the O-Line's sub-par play is hindering us.

I just don't think this a problem with scheme, as some would have you believe.

i think there is a very easy throw that lots of teams use in the face of too many people in the box. but we don't do it because McDonald did it.
