What are you really expecting vs Pitt?

Watched some of the replay of GTech and Pitt. I know GTech is run first and throws very little but they had a lot of success against them and Pitt gave up almost 500 yards and 376 was the run. Think like a lot of people have said if we can control their run, force them into some tough 3rd downs and the secondary can make plays along with pass rush we are going to be in this one. LB's are going to make some HUGE plays against the run too. One thing I also noticed in box scores is TO's. Pitt doesn't appear that they turn it over much so that is going to be a key too. We got to get the early jump on this one no doubt about it.

I never know what to take away from triple option team games.

Hoping for: A desperate SU team plays with great energy and the coaches coach with nothing to lose. It's time to let our nuts hang. Our star freshman QB is fully unleashed, and we pull off a much needed home win.

Expecting: We don't really open it up but take a few weird risks that don't work, and are outmanned and worn down in a convincing loss. Sorry, seen it too many times to not expect it at this point.

Don't forget the ill-timed penalty and the other **&%%$#%#!" call by the refs.

What would you consider a more aggressive offensive scheme?

More downfield shots, more early down play action passes. I just want to see more aggressiveness overall. I'd like to see a 60-40 split pass to rush.

I thought it was interesting to see Lester today admit that he called 32 pass plays last week. And that he was less than pleased that Dungey only threw 22 times. He wants that fixed. I think that 32 pass plays called in a game a team is leading for the vast majority of the game is pretty healthy (yes, Dungey likely threw 3-4 passes in OT).

But a lot of people on the board want more throwing? Namely Milly. And I am not saying this notion is terribly flawed. I'd argue primarily that we need to try to throw the ball down field a bit more. This is where the O-Line's sub-par play is hindering us.

I just don't think this a problem with scheme, as some would have you believe.

I expect us to pin our ears back and rush the passer like we used to do, and run blitz. Not sure what defense has been playing this season but it certainly doesn't look like a Shafer/Bullough defense to date.

What I hope for and what I expect are two entirely different things, unfortunately.

I'd like to see us put together two full halves of offense, and get enough stops out of our defense to win this game.

I'm not sure I expect that though. I expect us to have at least a dead quarter on offense, and for our defense to run out of gas. I expect Boyd will run through our secondary, and I expect us to run a low number of plays on offense. I think we might have enough to win, but it'll be close.
Hmm. Well.

I wasn't expecting a win, but I also wasn't expecting to lose to Uva, or Usf, expectations change, and today was a very winnable game.

defense played better today if you would of told me we would of held pitt to 23 i would of been happy except for getting outshafered on the fake punt to extend gw drive
