HUGE time change to get use to

12:30 Maui time is our first game

I hope the team gets one full day after the plane flight to recover from the long trip and adjust to the time shift.

Well, at least Hawaii is behind us then. That will be 5:30 p.m. EST. Would suck if it was the other way around!

It does suck to be behind, lol. Noon games are 8am games here. 7:30 games are 3:30. No fun at all

It would have been nice for the team to play a game in the Pacific time zone before heading out to Hawaii.

They are always invited to come up to Alaska and play a game or two...

Man, I wish they would make a few more showings in the Great Alaska Shootout

Now that ESPN is no longer involved with it, the GA Shootout has become one of the worst November tournaments. They usually get one BCS conference team and a bunch of sludge.

This year's field, besides Alaska-Anchorage:

Nicholls State
UC Riverside
Tulsa
Indiana State
TCU
Pepperdine
Wisc-Green Bay
Denver
Harvard

meh... I hear ya.. I still want to head down and check it out one year. I'd be there this year if we werent heading back to NY.

Seems to me, the team ought to just stay on EST. After all, the games are all slotted for viewers in the mainland, mostly for the convenience of the East Coast. If we win our way to the finals, the game times will be 5:30, 7:00 and 10:00 PM, EST.

Might be going to bed when it's still light out, and getting up in the dark, but they're young--they can handle it.

Besides which, this would help them re-acclimate to the return home and the Indiana game.

so the championship game is wednesday at 10pm?

The time change to Hawaii is no problem. The 12:30 start is perfect. You move 6 or 7 hours earlier so the guys will be naturally waking up early and 12:30 will be more like a late afternoon start.

Indiana St just beat ND @ home by 13 for Mike Brey's first ever lose in November. Not a bad team. And Harvard is ranked within the top 20. I am probably wrong but I believe Denver isn't horrible either. But don't quote me on that.

But the rest is a pretty stinky bunch of mess. Especially TCU.

Take the first sentence back. Pepperdine is 3-0 and is 19th in the country in assists and 38th in scoring %.

And I was wrong about Denver.

Wisconsin-Green Bay only lost to Wisconsin by 3.

Nobody is tuning in to see those teams.

My son spent two years in school in California and tried to stay on eastern time the whole two years. He's a psychiatrist now.

I was in Maui 15 years ago when they beat Indiana in the final for the championship. It was a terrific time. Walter White's (owner of the DeWitt inn of the same name years ago) son has a restaurant right on the beach in Maui. Lots of Cuse fans congregate there. We had Thanksgiving dinner up in the mountains, at a friend's place. Beautiful scenery.

The Maui Civic Center (think that's what it's called) is a great place to watch basketball. Not much larger than a high school gym. I sat right behind George Karl one game; another, I sat in front of Jerry West. A scout from the Pistons sat in back of me for the final game. We had a good conversation about the pro prospects on the SU team. He pegged it right, indicating that Etan Thomas was going to make the league.

Easy to mingle with the players, as they stay in a hotel on the beach. Also, you'll see many players from other schools.

For any of you flying over to see it, you will have a wonderful time. Especially, if the Cuse does well! Joyce (cto) will be there, I know.

Since I have never been to the Islands, I have been looking forward to this trip since the day I was told about it.

I have heard about the Walter White's guy's son opening the place there. That will be cool, in that my dad and a bunch of the neighborhood dads used to imbibe after work at White's, nee Bob Casey's, back in the Mad Men era.

The only downside is that while Sean and Bilas will be there, Raf, alas will not. Upside is that there will be more red wine for me and CTO. ;)
