Do you think Dion will get a 1st or 2nd team All-American honors? What guards right now would get it over him?

No all-american honors this year...IMO.

Dion is proving to be a pretty good player, but I'd have guards like Jeremy Lamb, Marcus Denman, John Jenkins, and perhaps Ashton Gibbs over him

Perhaps Jordan Taylor, although he hasn't had nearly the season he did as a Jr.

You're kidding, right? Ashton Gibbs??? Have you seen what he's been doing so far this year?

Half the Pitt fans want him to leave the team right now.

not many if any, hard to say since he plays les than the other top guards and we are seemingly so much better than everyone we have played.

I think the biggest thing holding Dion back right now is the minutes. If he was playing 30-35 a night, his numbers would stand out even more.

I love him coming of the bench, but just imagine if he started. Definitely agree that minutes are the only thing that's holding him back. But it works great, he knows that and the team knows that.

I think we're going to see Dion's minutes increase (especially if the games are close) as the season goes on, and you are going to see BT and Scoop split more minutes. It wouldn't surprise me to see Dion log 30 to 35 minutes in the big games.

Waiters is up there for sure. I also like Siva, Kuric, Brandon Paul (I've followed him for a couple years now), Denmon and Jenkins as mentioned, Holloway if he gets his mojo back. That Pierre Jackson on Baylor is nice too.

Dion should play 30 a game. He's starting to look like a guy who can put a team on his back in tourny.

Pierre Jackson is one helluva player. Dion is better, but I love Pierre's game and heart.

they give these kind of awards to the "name" guys who were on the pre season lists, usually upper classmen. I doubt Dion jumps onto first or second team nationally.

Kendall Marshall

Haha Kendall Marshall just recently reached a career high with 12pts. I must admit the kid is a great PG in the Mark Jackson mold but c'mon. Marshall gets overhyped just like everyone that goes to UNC.

Only Guards I would take over Waiters would be Jeremy Lamb, William Buford (Sr), and maybe Brad Beal. I also think Doron Lamb and Dion are very comparable but that's it.

I think Gibbs is playing out of position right now for a team that looks horrible. Not sure what is happening at Pitt, but man have they hit the wall. The fact that we can discuss Dion as among the top half dozen guards in the country (whether he is or is not one of them) amazes me. It reinforces what a good attitude change can make happen.

Problem with Dion is the depth of Syracuse limits his minutes and scoring necessity. Also as previously stated the award usually goes to name players or players that are needed to carry a team every night.

We're the number 1 team in the country on TV every time we play, with our highlights getting top billing on ESPN and halftime shows. In the middle of all of that, Dion is the guy filling up the highlight reel. If he isn't a name player now, it's only because people refuse to pay attention.

Some wags said Coach Dean Smith was the only man who could hold Michael Jordan to under 20 pts a game.

Not saying Dion is in that conversation, but at this point, JB is holding him back. And it is fine -- Dion doesn't need to get 30 minutes at this point for SU to win.

By not wearing him down now we'll have to potential to do just that come tourney time. Through 18 games that 8 minutes per game less has saved him 144 minutes (3.6 games) worth or wear and tear.

Watch Marshall play and then tell me he is overhyped.
