What if Marrone doesnt get an NFL job?

HA HA! Then he gets a years paid vacation and goes to NY Giants in 2016

I don't think he gets paid to sit at home. He's the one who opted out. And i dont think he wouldve opted out unless he had another job in the NFL already lined up. Marrone is quite a few things, but he is not a fool - he will get his.

He does get paid to sit at home if he chooses.

I just read that in an ESPN article, jesus (i wasnt about to cull throw a 13 page thread about a coach who means nothing to me of an nfl team that is a farce). Honestly, i find it unbelievable, but in upstate ny, giving people money for the promise of work they dont actually have to perform seems to be the norm.

That's not so crazy

No way he's going to the Giants. That is a top five job in the NFL.

I think Marrone is a fine coach, but there is no way he's done enough to warrant HC for the NYG.

If he weren't to get an nfl head coaching gig he could still take an nfl oc gig or a college hc gig and bank millions. Its not as if he'll end up bagging groceries.

If he doesn't get a job this year, 1260 AM should hire him to do a radio hour opposite Axe every afternoon.

He will be the next coach of the Jets or Falcons. Book it.

He will go to work for O'Brien in some capacity if he doesn't, and make $4.5 million next year. Rough spot to be in

Jets I hope.

I also hope he goes to the Jets. You'll get a couple years, see your team reach the cusp of the top tier and then BAM! he'll be gone to his final dream job as coach of the NJ Giants. :D

Actually, in most states that is the case. If you have an employment contract for say, 3 years and get fired after only one, you get to sit on your butt for the remaining term of the contract and collect your money. Normally, if you decide to work, anything you earn is deducted from the amount due under your contract. Courts won't let you double dip unless that is a term of the contract as is the case with Saint Doug. Usually, contracts will also have to have specific consideration in order for a non-compete to be upheld in court as judges don't like to keep people from working. It must also be reasonable. Becoming a talking head on ESPN is not considered competing in the NFL, which is why fired coaches go the media route for the remaining term of their contracts.

considering all of the interviews he has lined up, he will get a job easily

You were right, he is out of Buffalo after two years with a 9-7 record.

That is would be his choice after trying renegotiation and turning down a raise and an extension, walking away with $4M with no offset doesn't quite fit your original premise though.

It's a miracle.

Well I am right and I wasn't going to rub it in your face that's why I stayed quiet on this thus far. And you totally misinterpreted my original stance (not shocking.) Which was when a NEW owner takes over he cleans house. The fact he wouldn't give Doug what he wanted is just his way of saying to Doug, leave ...I ain't gonna miss ya or beg ya to stick around. So, in reality he did clean house. Just not in a conventional way.
