That’s fine. But the dagger is hard to do particularly when you have concerns about offending influential donors/boosters.

I’m literally not arguing with you. There is a graceful way to fire *a* coach. But if you’re not opening the checkbook, which Syracuse never does, and the coach in question is a proud, fiery, competitor who has the backing of a ton of influential folks ... then you’re in a very tough spot. The only answer is the dagger, as you say, but that could have significantly difficult ramifications as well.

I don’t mean to argue with you either.

But don’t you think that some of those influential donors might be ready to move their stacks of chips to a different color?
