What's The Craziest Things You've Ever Seen In The Dome?

-In 2002 we went to the Sweet 16 game between Kentucky and Maryland. A few Kentucky fans near us literally started smoking cigarettes inside the Dome in their seats and were kicked out.

-A couple years ago at a basketball game, I saw a little boy come out of a stall in the men's room and walk up to the urinal trough thinking it was a sink to wash his hands in. He may or may not have been my son.

-2004 football game against Pitt a woman sitting behind me spilled an entire container of nachos and salsa all over me and didn't apologize. I spent the rest of the game fuming like I was in the front row of a Gallagher show.

-2007 basketball game vs. Nova, Jim Burr (or was it Tim Higgins?) kicks George Hicker out of the game. Very unusual. I remember the entire Dome stood up and just quietly was confused about what was happening.
I think the Hicker incident was Gmacs last game and in 2006.

Was it the Florida state game a few years back when it was 300 degrees in dome? I remember wearing a grey t shirt and what a mistake that was. It was like I took a swim.

The craziest thing for sure though is them trying to replace the plastic containers for nachos grande. They went with the box and “container of cheese” and that was catastrophic. Been going to Dome for 30 years. That sent me
That game was brutal. The dome ran out of bottled water. My wife nearly passed out.

I don't remember the exact year, but when I was a student circa 20 years ago I remember a female cheerleader falling from quite high up during a basketball game. She was taken off with a broken leg and a neck brace during the middle of a game while the game continued to go in the background.

Beer (aka: Dome Foam) used to be served in large paper cups with a saran wrap-like cover. At one game a person in front of me had such a cup and in peeling off the cover the cup tipped and its entire contents landed on the back of the person in front of him. I was quite surprised at how calm the beer-soaked fan was.
Basketball game when Johnny Flynn played? Seats behind the basket?

I double checked to be sure and it was in fact the year after.

"Hicker, who played at SU with current head coach Jim Boeheim, said he comes back once a year to Syracuse for basketball games. In 2007, he was ejected from his second-row seat in the Carrier Dome for arguing with a referee during a game against Villanova."

Did we ever get the full story on that? Was she in her right mind and THAT frustrates? Seems beyond belief.

During the Duke football game in 2014 a few high school kids were horsing around in our section and one shoved another down about 15 rows, he was airborne and landed really hard. Seemed like he was OK but that stuck with me.

Michelle Munn - the dome was so quiet and in shock. All you could hear was the poor girl crying. Thankfully she recovered from a fractured skull. It was frightening how hard she hit the court.

I brought a friend from high school to the game where the ref died. His wife was yelling at him on the phone wondering why he was whispering and he's trying to explain the ref just stopped dead that's why

Anyway, we grew up in wny and he'd only been to Bills games. Not only was he completely accustomed to people pissing in the hand washing circular trough, he was so accustomed to it that he didn't know it was for hand washing until he went to the dome
Ironically he survived.

Michelle was over 40 years ago.

Cusefan0307 must be thinking about a different cheerleader perhaps?

I was there. I never heard the dome so quiet. You could literally hear a pin drop. I believe the ref actually died, but was rescutated on the field.
The emts who saved him were sure not in a big hurry, someone yelled Run you aholes and they walked a little faster

This is a different incident. The one you bring up was 20 years before my time.

I complained about him all game, I said this guy isn't right. Poor grades prior to his collapse. Then I felt a little bad, oh I get it now
Also the moral of that story was the memorable thing was the discovery that bills fans have always been absolute animals

My idea of what is normal at a football game is so much more extreme than any story here

I was at that game too. It was so shocking.

I saw it all play out. Ref was in line with the play, he was trying to do his dad jog stumbled twice and just fell over kinda like your drunk. I knew it was not good. I told my buddy 'I just saw a man die'

I can't remember what game it was, it think it was against Temple back in the late '80s or '90s. But I had never seen players from an opposing football team jump into the stands and start fighting with the home fans. They were swinging helmets! If I remember right, there was a late hit out of bounds on a Syracuse player. The opposing player was ejected, then flipped off the Dome folks while walking to his sideline. The the SU fans behind the visitor's bench started throwing stuff at them, then the fights started between the players and fans. The field was cleared while the Dome when crazy. Pretty wild. When they resumed the game after 15-30 minutes, SU was given two 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalties. Never forget it.

I still remember sitting on the opposite side, watching the melee including streams of beer flying from the stands toward the Temple players.

I have a cousin that played for Temple prior to that time. We still argue about who was at fault.

He's retired as a football coach in Pennsylvania. He must have gotten over it because when he was still coaching, he sent us a pretty good player from his high school (Cory Bowen).
