When Benny finally figures it out…

I mentioned it in other threads but the major disruptions to the Prep and AAU schedules appear to have wreaked havoc on a lot of kids including those higher rated.

Amazing to think that not getting to play a normal senior year might make it more difficult for a kid to then transition to playing at the major Div I level against kids who are experienced at that level.

Athleticism and natural ability doesn’t guarantee a successful result, but it does give the individual with the athleticism and natural ability a much, much higher likelihood of reaching that successful result and sooner than others. But it still requires work and adjustment to the higher competition.

And no one should be compared to Melo. Dominant frosh who carried us to a National Championship. It is unlikely that we’ll ever have another Melo……ever. He ultimately proved to be a 10 star compared to these 5 stars.

Why is being a liability on the offensive end an issue if the rest of the team on the floor can score?

We made a F4 with KEITA playing a bunch of mins. Won a championship with Jeremy.
Won the NC because we had a unicorn.

A lot of premature, and dare I say immature H0T Takes in this thread re; Benny.
He has work to do, but what I "saw' that gives me confidence was the one effortless dish to Frank yesterday, along with the out-of-this world defensive blocks he had earlier this year. He looked like a different player making those earlier plays, and yesterday's play was the first indication I could see that offensively at least, he was starting to get his bearings.
On defense, he looks tons better. JB is now giving the kid a steady 10+ minutes per game, especially in the first half. Those who have already written him off are making a mistake, like this board has done with numerous other players, too many to mention here.
Our microwave society wants instant results, and any stumble is often viewed as fatal. Benny seems like a sensitive kid, trying to figure it all out, with an ornery old man riding him for the first half of the season, and not living up to even his own expectations as far as performance. How about we err on the side of positivity and patience, instead of making definitive statements when its still so early in the game? JMHO
Good post. A special like for your "sign off" message. "Fear The Citrus" Love it!!

We made the F4 with Chukwu.

We can play 1 offensive non-threat.
Most teams are dojng that.
We just need Not be iso-reliant.

He can be a nice guy off the court, but he has to get the mentality of a dog while on the court. I want to see him sprint up the floor to get to both offense and defense. Keep those arms up on defense and cover the floor. On offense, keep your hands ready and keep moving. Set picks, cut to the basket, just keep moving and stay ready and when the ball goes up, go after that thing like your life depends on it.
Good comment regarding "want to see him sprint up the floor". I watched closely on Saturday during Benny's time on the floor especially for this. It has been mentioned in the past. Sure enough, he just flows up the floor with others opposed to taking off in a sprint. It is almost like he is hanging back in case he needs to be an option on the inbound pass since we get pressured often.

Chewy didnt play that year
Sub Tyler Roberson.

He was just a defensive guy, rebound and get dunks guy.

We can have atleast one non-offensive threat. We just can’t have multiple.

It's not a huge issue but I don't see why anyone wouldn't prefer having 5 guys out there who can both defend and score.

This is the first time that I can remember that a Syracuse team was capable of performing at this level with all 5 players and it wasn't really fully operating until Cole came on in the last 3 games. It's really something to see.

Blaming Benny's lack of success on his haircut is at best clueless and at worst racist. Should probably keep that line of thinking in your head.
It's not racist for crying out loud. People change their look and often it changes their outlook. I saw him with his high school hair and he looked happy.

They can't defend though

He should go back to his non braided high school hair. Less tension.

We were down big in that game if I recall. Ultimately we marched through the Big 12 like Sherman through Georgia.
I had to replace the wax ring in a toilet in my house that weekend. I was going to do it after that game, but after about 10 minutes, I decided to stop watching and get started on it right away. I finished the job and watched the last ten minutes of the game. It was a very satisfying day.

Nothing you post seems nearly as funny since you changed from Terry Crews being your avatar.
I wasn't happy with the hair in my old avatar. But, I'm very happy with the picture of Laszlo Cravensworth wearing his hat made from witches' skin.

Sometimes you need something to reverse your polarity and refire your mojo. Whatever it takes.

What does this have to do with us?

Are you talking about the #5 team in the country that already is laden with talent?

You are comparing apples and candy canes.

The #1 player in the country is not ready and their fans aren’t happy.
