Why did I just see Greg Robinson in Topps?

arent those are all still issues? and marrone has been a world of a difference. Coach P at least went 16-20 in his last 3 years which is better than 9-27 that grob did in his last 3.

i am honestly pretty shocked that anyone with some connections to the program is defending grob the coach.

Yes they still are some of the issues, that was my point. Exception being nobody ever whined about them as excuses. Also, where am I defending Grob as the head coach of SU? I think I have said about 126 times he was a bad head coach here.

And 16-20? Yippee. That was always our norm right? He also quit recruiting his last 3 years. That set the program back as much as anything.

all i am saying is grob was a bad hire and a bad coach.

i think everyone agrees with you that the ship had some holes in it before grob was captain. but during grobs tenure he steered the ship into an iceberg.

bees agree with most everything you point out re grob.but p&d did not quit recruiting, they ewere out recruited for the reasons already mentioned plus the surgence of ru and uconn

Right, and Robinson was just an innocent bystander. Boo hoo. It must have been a coincidence that the team improved shortly after Marrone took over, because the program was in so much better shape after Greggers left than it was when he started.

I hate that logic - he knew what he was getting into - he may have inherited a bad situation, but he took on the job of turning it around and made it epically worse.

If the situation is supposedly a lost cause, don't sell that you can be successful.

Yup. Peter's was also for minors who needed beer and needed it fast.

Also, Lancaster market. Being one of the few freshmen with a car, and living in Lawrinson with an elevator that bypasses having to bring things past the front desk was key.

i think you have your sarcastic meter turned off.

if i am understanding correctly, you 2 are in full agreement.

I am going to go out on a limb and say four more years of P&D would have been worse for the program than GRob. People seem to forget P was lost at the end of that season he had no answers and recruits were not even giving SU a look. Was GRob perfect...No but absent gutting the program we ended up where we were going to end up one way or another. Hell we made Purdue look like world class track stars.

except for ray rice and courtney greene...

look, as i am quoted in this thread - P had to go at somepoint. But Grob is considered on some level, among the worst hires in the history of college football (not syracuse history, college football history).

He came here and told our S&C staff to stop testing the players... end story.

A true fan realizes our downfall started before he even got here.

There aren't many true fans this definition. Old news, I know.

"Everything was fine. There was no need to make a change."

a truer fan knows that SU went to a bowl game 7 of the preceding 10 years, including the year of the firing of the previous coach.

and that the new coach, never in a million years, should have won only 1 game with what was left behind.

Oh Lord

added to Curtis Brinkley and Arthur Jones,

and Jeremy Horne.

Yep. Everything isn't fine when you have players talking down the program/coaches to recruits.

IMO, Rice and Greene would have helped immensely. But players don't always pan out exactly the same way regardless of where they go.

As to the testing, that is one of about a dozen things that have been said by others and is the only one I haven't been able to run to ground like the other rumors and embellishments. But what I never understood about that statement is that people and even a couple parents, did post players times and lifts at some point. Don't remember if it was pre-season, spring or whenever, but I know for a fact we used to hear about kids who got faster and/or stronger etc. Not sure how that info is available or gets out if some sort of testing wasn't done.

Yeah, us Sadler types had to get clever, like the time we brought a keg in by putting it in an old mini refrigerator box and wheeled it right past the front desk.

And to stay on topic, the nosedive was made possible by multiple factors, beginning with P and accelerated by GRob's ineptitude as a game day coach.

I spit out my coffee when I saw the word multiple in this thread.

When did this happen? Or did I remove this from my memory?

One fat stoner LB is indicative of the attitude of the entire team for some people.
