Wildhack Presser 10 AM Monday

As much as Dino has driven me nuts, I'm cautiously optimistic on next year. I think this offense has potential so long as Tucker returns, and Shrader back as well. Not to mention 4 of 5 offensive lineman return, which typically is a recipe for success. I keep seeing Babers not being a fan of the portal, but his history seems to but against the statements made, as since day one at SU, he has brought in impact transfers at every level, AET, Trishton Jackson, Alton Robinson, etc. There's plenty more. If they can find an impact receiver, I actually like Courtney Jackson a lot, and hopefully Alford develops as most want. Not too far off getting one more receiver, there's plenty of AET's out there looking for a chance. As for the defense they gotta pound the portal for the D line. The linebackers have been a strength, as has the secondary.

All this said, the portal hasn't been kind the last few months, hopefully it can return the favor in the offseason restocking the positions of need.

Give us your $$$ and maybe I'll do something next year unless I change my mind.

Not really the strong announcement needed.

Im trying hard not to lose it and go full meltdown. Losing to Pitt again set me over the edge but its not worth it.

If money’s not an issue you fire him.

Do we know how much money’s even in hand for the Manley project? Im getting concerned

They have a much better regional recruiting base than us, of course. At the same time, they're the second most-popular college football program in their own city, and the pro teams there are even more popular than both of them. They also play in a perpetually half-empty pro stadium. So it's not like they don't have structural challenges as well. But they find a way to be OK. We have really, really sucked, there's no getting around it.
If Syracuse had the success PITT had over that period, the Orange fan base would be huge and involved. The dome would be full and the ticket prices would be double. That's a lot of lost revenue.

I think this decision speaks more about the Chancellor than JW. I think the school made the investment in Dino and probably went above and beyond they ever thought they would go. I suspect JW's hands were tied to some extent.

He keeps asking for money from boosters for recruiting, etc. They need money to maximize the investment they already stretched on. Just the reality of what i'm hearing
The pleading for money is the part that rings the most hollow to me. We're heading into year 7 for Dino, the notion that donations made now can impact this year's recruiting class is preposterous. A lot of these comments would have made sense after 2019. But two seasons later the financial ones in particular come across poorly.

Has nobody asked about the assistant coaches what haven't been mentioned?

Manley is being done through donations.

This guy sounds like that corporate ESPN suit he was.

I mean the voice and spin.

Just a joke.
Vice presidents for the most part don't make any real decisions at major corporations.

It’s corporate speak. Plain and simple.
The guy is a politician. Good at it but anyone who wants to can see right thru it.

Low energy, calm, and just spin.

It goes to Bee's cryptic lame duck comments and revenue points. I think the school, from the AD perspective, has zero money to throw around on lavish recruiting pushes. Covid crushed it from that perspective. Not saying I agree but it feels like Sveryud wants the AD run away from what the university needs (and they prob need alot too).

He was a tad bit higher up than just a VP.
he answered to Skipper no? He prob was a heartbeat from head of ESPN if things broke right for him.

had he not taken this job he probably could have gone anywhere in sports production.

Sounds like a description of Dino.

I actually think JW is doing fine during this presser for the decision made. It's not necessarily inspiring, but it's par for the course. Personally, I'd like a different vibe coming from this presser, but c'est la vie.

Did anyone ask about Monroe or the other assistants that haven't had confirmation one way or another?

Agree. Now I am not sure JW can actually come out and say money is an issue or it would undermine Dino in a number of ways but because he has to base it on football, it challenges the viability of his measurements of Dino. Overall not a great message today.

just mentioned delays in getting calls from the box to the field. said it was inefficient and needs to be better. He harped on it a bit and clearly not happy about it.

Tomcat also mentioned it today. It was a huge issue all season and led to a bunch of screwups. burned timeouts, delay of games, the 2 pt conversion etc.

Wildhack was the number 2 at the entire company.
He left though because Iger wanted Pitaro to be the top guy and when cocaine took out Skipper then Iger got his guy.
Wildhack had real power at ESPN.
Stephen A. Smith is extremely loyal to Wildhack.

Problem is he is learning on the job here and made no real decisions.
Everything was done for him.
He gets credit for resigning Dino but this PC is a joke.

Imagine Jake doing this press conf.
