Woodson press last possession

Must think it was the NBA. Look, we can't win the longer the game goes. It was crazy to press us and let us get a lay up attempt.
Especially after our last possession to end the first OT. What an awful coaching decision.

I too was surprised by that. I understand trying to get him to pick up his dribble (that wouldn't have surprised me), but that scramble set really bailed us out. Great pass by Jimmy. Woodson is a good coach that adjusted really well second half, but that did not work out. Nor did whatever they were trying to do after we blew our shot in OT1.

I actually didn't think it was that bad of a play. A gamble for sure, but I'm not sure there's anyone on this board that wasn't terrified when they saw Joe about to get double teamed with the ball. I was fully expecting a turnover at that point.

That bounce pass was sweet...

That was an “oh no” moment from me. On the TV live it didn’t look like there was space to make that pass. Credit to Jimmy and Joe there, both did a tremendous job that last possession

I’ve seen it all. Truly a dumb play
I haven't read all the threads but how can a ref as experienced as Jeff Anderson not call a technical on Woodson who he had already warned about standing on the court over the half court line while play was in session. Why is it even a rule. I don't know how Woodson will do at Indiana but I could never root for any coach, Buzz included, who is always out of the box.

Not a bad decision. Joe actually did have trouble getting just across half court. And, if you look at his history (or, at least last year), Joe did not fare well by even attempting what he managed to do last night: take the ball to the rim. If you had been told Joe was going to attempt a layup in traffic and had to place a bet, i'm pretty sure Converting or Getting Fouled would not have been smart picks. Last year, even on breakaways, he'd slow down and get it swatted. And during one foray to the hoop yesterday, he just tossed the ball out of bounds.

If you play back and set up your defense, you're at more of a risk of just having a single or double pick set against you, and one of our "great shooters" having a decent look.

Six in one hand, half dozen in the other. He took an aggressive, proactive approach, against a slow, poor ball-handling team. And the result was a coin flip.

It’s a good call he doesn’t want to lose on a long 3 from JG or Buddy with their feet set. Might get a turnover but he is probably trying to make sure we have to hoist it off the dribble with a defender around.
