They hardly ever told what was happening on the court.
They hardly ever told what was happening on the court.
My wife said, "I never say anything about the announcers, but those guys are HORRIBLE."
Until recently the "terror" was experienced by Rutgers fans who were "trapped" watching the team there. My wife--who generally likes listening to the announcers--asked if we could mute it.
Also, what the hell is The Trapezoid of Terror? Rutgers is not good enough at basketball to name their arena.
I don’t think either one of them remarked on how well Kadary Richmond was playIng. Not once. They said nothing at all about him. There was no analysis at all from the color commentator. Couzens tried but he couldn’t get the other guy to actually talk about the game and the players. They barely talked about Syracuse at all. It was all Rutgers Rutgers Rutgers. Then suddenly we were winning and they were like, oh, I guess we should say something about their play in the second half. They hardly ever told what was happening on the court.
I disliked them too. The 'color' guy sounded like he was trying to be the East Coast Bill Walton. Mike didn't rail him in well. Probably needs some lessons from Pasch. One of them (Mike Couzens) is an SU guy.

Mike is an SU guy through and through so I can't bash him a lot.
ESPN's Couzens' Marriage Proposal Was Seamless Production
After calling Notre Dame-Syracuse basketball, ESPN's Mike Couzens proposed to Erin Beadle off-air and at the broadcast table.www.espnfrontrow.com
It was horrible, but it certainly seemed like they were not in the building last night - I assume they were calling the game from a studio somewhere. I am sure that is uncomfortable for the broadcasters especially if they are still getting used to it. So rather than call the action (incorrectly), they talked about stuff not related to the game. More of an excuse for Couzens than Crispin who was just unlistenable.
If it's virtual, then tone it down, not talk over EVERYTHINGYes they were virtual. I'm sure it is easy to talk like you are just watching in your living room in that virtual situation. But they still have to remember they are on live tv
And the camera cut aways while the action is happeNing. Do we really need to see jb pick his nose again or the cardboard cut outsIf it's virtual, then tone it down, not talk over EVERYTHING
I've noticed that with all the ESPN stuff. The broadcast seems to be about everything but the game during game play. Social justice, cancer, covid, food, getting high in the mountains,...
Enough already.
Makes you long for hearing Bilas go on and on about ball screens.
