Why not Hop???? Duke and Carolina keep bringing back former coaches or players as coaches...and it has worked out for them...why not us? People on this thread don't want to acknowledge that is is more than a Coach! Cuse's problems and inability to become elite again...has more to do with Money than anything else. It's about quality players...

umm no. hop played a crappy zone at washington...which he would repeat here and also wasnt a offensive guru either...its not only about players...have you not been watching? cuse has good players this year but they dont have good xs and os...

I know Hop. I like Hop. A lot. How can you not. He isn't the guy for this job for a number of reasons. let's start with money. There are coaches that have been named in this thread that will have donations poring in. Hop is not one of them. Just the opposite. Major league donors have made their unhappiness very clear to the powers that be. Plus, Hop isn't really all that good of a Head Coach. He had a lot of advantages at Washington. And he wasn't successful. Too bad. Great guy. But we can't mess this up.

he's got a cushy NBA college, why go back into the college ranks and haggle with NIL and the portal, he's pushing 60, nobody wants that headache at his age if you don’t have to

I would take him as interim coach till the end of the year.

Could certainly be part of the interview mix for the full time coach depending on how things went as interim.

1. AA will not be fired until the season is over, there will be no interim.
2. Why would any sane man leave a good job to take a temporary one that he might not get permanently, then you are out on 2 jobs.

He bombed at UW. That was his audition, and it went extremely poorly -- which should disqualify him.

Can Fran coach both sports? He could be in charge of recruiting and we could hire an offensve guru as one assistant and a defensive one as the other. Call them all associate head coaches and pay them the same. Fran could cut us a break on the salary like when you bundle multiple types of insurances with the same insurance company.

With Brown, we'd end up with a point guard who can't pass the ball and turns it over incessantly...wait a minute, we've already got that!

His teams were not successful in his last number of years there. No different than our team has been for roughly the last 6 years.

I’m by no means pushing for Hop to be the HC, and don’t want that, but to compare him to Red is outrageous. Hop may be overly in love with the zone, but he understands basketball and can have a logical basketball conversation/presser.

Not outrageous at all. Hop was like 14 games under 500 his last 5 years at Washington.

I would say the jury is still out on Fran after the absolute disaster this past season was.
