umm no. hop played a crappy zone at washington...which he would repeat here and also wasnt a offensive guru either...its not only about players...have you not been watching? cuse has good players this year but they dont have good xs and os...Why not Hop???? Duke and Carolina keep bringing back former coaches or players as coaches...and it has worked out for them...why not us? People on this thread don't want to acknowledge that is is more than a Coach! Cuse's problems and inability to become elite again...has more to do with Money than anything else. It's about quality players...
I understand the frustration. The Red hire was political. Let's see how it plays out this time around.Im just sick of the Keep it in the Cuse family, incest that Cuse fans and Administrators have.
I know Hop. I like Hop. A lot. How can you not. He isn't the guy for this job for a number of reasons. let's start with money. There are coaches that have been named in this thread that will have donations poring in. Hop is not one of them. Just the opposite. Major league donors have made their unhappiness very clear to the powers that be. Plus, Hop isn't really all that good of a Head Coach. He had a lot of advantages at Washington. And he wasn't successful. Too bad. Great guy. But we can't mess this up.Why not Hop???? he's got a cushy NBA college, why go back into the college ranks and haggle with NIL and the portal, he's pushing 60, nobody wants that headache at his age if you don’t have toNope. Been out of the area too long to maintain recruiting lines, and no idea how he’d do with NIL and the portal.
1. AA will not be fired until the season is over, there will be no interim.I would take him as interim coach till the end of the year.
Need to get Red out of here.
Could certainly be part of the interview mix for the full time coach depending on how things went as interim.
and he had good, highly rated players some who've gone to the NBAWhy on earth would we hire Hop? What evaluative criteria would justify that?
Beyond "former ties to the program?"
He bombed at UW. That was his audition, and it went extremely poorly -- which should disqualify him.
With Brown, we'd end up with a point guard who can't pass the ball and turns it over incessantly...wait a minute, we've already got that!I would have taken him 10 years ago. Not now.
Can Fran coach both sports? He could be in charge of recruiting and we could hire an offensve guru as one assistant and a defensive one as the other. Call them all associate head coaches and pay them the same. Fran could cut us a break on the salary like when you bundle multiple types of insurances with the same insurance company.
Hop worked with Rak all spring and summer before his senior year and helped turn him into an all conference player. You have to give him credit for that. He was great at player development. He won’t and shouldn’t be our next head coach though.Bernie Fine somehow was a bit better at developing the big men. Have we really developed a C since Bernie? The PF/C on the 2011-2012 team were Fab Melo, Rakeem Christmas. The next year, was Christmas, DeJuan Coleman, and Baye Keita. Same trio the next year. But things start to fall of a cliff in terms of developing the PF/C after Fine left.
What are you talking about? Wildhack is the current AD and hasn’t announced any plans to retire. There won’t be a new AD in the next two months!I'm not sure Wildhack will be hiring anyone. The last I heard, he plans to retire and leave the decision of selecting Red's replacement to the new AD.
That would just be the back up. The starter would be all-american.With Brown, we'd end up with a point guard who can't pass the ball and turns it over incessantly...wait a minute, we've already got that!
His teams were not successful in his last number of years there. No different than our team has been for roughly the last 6 years.2 Time Coach of the Year isn’t really failing
Not outrageous at all. Hop was like 14 games under 500 his last 5 years at Washington.I’m by no means pushing for Hop to be the HC, and don’t want that, but to compare him to Red is outrageous. Hop may be overly in love with the zone, but he understands basketball and can have a logical basketball conversation/presser.
I would say the jury is still out on Fran after the absolute disaster this past season was.I would have taken him 10 years ago. Not now.

I like this. Kline missed on point guard two years in a row, he can goWonder how he would do as a college GM?
Was Autry a 2 time coach of the year? Did Autry make a single NCAAT? Every single fan wants him gone now or by the end of the year. He has no feel for the game and has more than enough talent to make the tournament. Hop aint losing to BC and Hofstra with this team. Not sure how you can compare the two.Not outrageous at all. Hop was like 14 games under 500 his last 5 years at Washington.

What X's and O's is Duke running that makes them good year after year?umm no. hop played a crappy zone at washington...which he would repeat here and also wasnt a offensive guru either...its not only about players...have you not been watching? cuse has good players this year but they dont have good xs and os...
theres a lot more to it than money and players

Kline had zero to do with last years roster. He was brought in after it was assembled.I like this. Kline missed on point guard two years in a row, he can go
Those.who desperately miss the perpetual 2-3 zone.Who the hell voted yes to this? …,
Good idea since he has been the AD that stopped the JB to Hop succession plan, let JB burn down the house he built and hired someone that shouldn’t have sniffed the SU head coaching job.I'm not sure Wildhack will be hiring anyone. The last I heard, he plans to retire and leave the decision of selecting Red's replacement to the new AD.
Ya, he blew through all his goodwill he banked the previous season. He is basically starting from scratch again.I would say the jury is still out on Fran after the absolute disaster this past season was.
