Estime was great too because he could take contact and keep running. Fast and strong.
Sophomore year high school though if my math is correct.Brisley's best times were 11.28 for 100m and 23.10 for 200m.

Marty Glickman is an interesting story. Played football at SU with Willmeth Sidat-Singh and Duffy Daugherty. Was a speedster who made the 1936 US Olympic Team that competed in Berlin. He was an integral part of the 4x100 relay team but was pulled from the event at the last minute and replaced by Jesse Owens. Ultimately he didn’t participate in any event. It’s been speculated that the US didn’t want to embarrass Der Fuhrer by forcing him to acknowledge a Jewish athlete winning a gold medal.1985

Qadry had football speed. Some track guys don’t run well in pads. Qadry got to top speed in uni.I'll never forget, on the opening kickoff / end around to Kirby Dar Dar, when we scored on the first play of the game against Florida. As Dar Dar broke free and raced up the left sidelines -- with no Florida special team coverage players near him -- Qadry Ismail came racing up the sidelines behind Dar Dar with his hands in the air in celebration.
Not a body position optimal for hitting your top speed, but he caught up to Dar Dar [who was FAST] easily.
The Missile had wheels.
He tagged Dom Foster in the post2?
Years ago I bumped into Marty on a street corner in Manhattan. He was the Jets football announcer at the time. He was very cordial, a real gentleman and of course a hero to those of us who knew about his Olympics experience and heroics at SU.Marty Glickman is an interesting story. It’s been speculated that the US didn’t want to embarrass Der Fuhrer by forcing him to acknowledge a Jewish athlete winning a gold medal.
For one play at least, we beat Florida State at their own game-SPEED.

Yeah. I believe when Jordan was being recruited he ran a 10.60 in the 100m and at a football combine was laser timed somewhere around 4.37 in the 40.I don't think that's how those conversions work. The last 10-15 yards are almost always faster than the first 10-15 yards. The only way to know is to have split times at the 40.
Wasn't there a guy a while back that we recruited that went to Indiana? I think he was a small RB and he ultimately gave up football for track. I think I remember him running something like a 10.4 100m in high school. It may have been as long ago a Marrone.10.57 100 m. 21.82 200 m.
Off the top of my head, he might be the fastest guy we have gotten in a while.
For comparison purposes, I know Jawhar Jordan had a 10.62 100 m and a 22.06 200 m in HS. We are recruiting a guy named Josiah Brown out of Holy Trinity HS for 2024 who I think is the fastest kid in NYS. His PRs are a 10.76 100 m and a 21.96 20 m.
These guys are usually scatbacks that are 5'7, 145 pounds. The fact that Bryce is 6'2 and 175 already is very encouraging.
David Byrd was fast too. I can't find anything about 40 times but I found something that said as a senior in highschool he won the national scholastic indoor 200m title with a time of 21.45 and ran the fastest indoor 400m that year. The 5 FASTEST PLAYERS, I could find, who will or have played @ SU - 40 Yard dash times
* This has since been edit5ed due to faster times and can be found farther along in this thread
1. Moe Jackson is a former Buffalo Bills and Syracuse University wide receiver. He is a 6X state Champion Sprinter and the fastest player ever to play at Syracuse University. Moe ran a 4.18 and 4.19 forty-yard dash.
2. Mike Morris 4.21 Joe Morris brother/ holds SU 100m dash record of 10.09.
3. Sean Tucker 4.27 high ( has not been timed after this years track season ) Dino thinks he's faster!
4. Marvin Harrison 4.38 seconds With the 19th overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft, then-Colts general manager Bill Tobin selected Marvin Harrison out of Syracuse. He wasn't the biggest (6'0", 185 lbs), but he was quick, clocking 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash at Syracuse, and he possessed another key that NBC Sports analyst Tony Dungy highlighted. EDIT: 4.29 per the article by tep624.
5. Jawhar Jordan 4.37

The 2013 NFL Scouting Combine is upon us, and there are four former Syracuse players participating in Indianapolis. Ryan Nassib, Justin Pugh, Shamarko Thomas and Alec Lemon all secured invites and will begin their workouts as early as Friday and continue through Tuesday.
From 1999-2012, Syracuse had 40 players participate in the combine, with at least one player attending each year. It was a mixed bag of results, with some standout performances and others that left much to be desired.
Using data compiled on
nflcombineresults.com
, we put together a chart of every Syracuse athlete to participate in the aforementioned time frame. Here’s a look at who took part and the results of their measurable drills (analysis at the bottom):

That was a great game to enjoy as a student. Campus was electric all weekend, not just in the Dome. Wow, the guy mispronounced both his first and last name. That’s impressive. For one play at least, we beat Florida State at their own game-SPEED.

I vaguely remember his name being Curtis. I think he went full track after a year or two. I’m a bit foggy, but know what you are referring to. He may have been a verbal until Marrone left. We had him and Gus Edwards coming in. Both NYC kids.Wasn't there a guy a while back that we recruited that went to Indiana? I think he was a small RB and he ultimately gave up football for track.
