I always like guys who draw interest from the service academies, it means they are smart, coachable and the academies believe they can handle tough things like the rigors and discipline of the military. Cam Lynch was one of those guys, recruited by the service academies, and look how great he turned out, played in the NFL for a good long-time too.

Was Brisly Estime as fast as he seemed? I swear that man was a human lazer
Brisley's best times were 11.28 for 100m and 23.10 for 200m.

IMO, Estime was more elusive than fast [in terms of pure speed].

Kid made a HUGE play on that late return in a bowl game against Minnesota his true freshman year, though. Put us in a position to come from behind to score the game winning points. We likely don't win without that big return.

Maurice Jackson was said to run a 4.19 40. He was from Marshall HS in Rochester.

I think I read that Ernie Davis ran a 10.7 100 yard dash in HS.

But I think Mike Morris, who was a younger brother to Joe Morris, is probably number 1. He ran track and played football at Syracuse.

Last I knew, he still holds the all time records at SU for the 100m (10.32) and 200m (20.52).
Mike was a burner. I think he qualified for the 1980 or 84 Olympic Trials based on his 100m times.

The 5 FASTEST PLAYERS, I could find, who have played @ SU - 40 Yard dash times
* This has since been edited due to faster times and can be found farther along in this thread

1. Moe Jackson is a former Buffalo Bills and Syracuse University wide receiver. He is a 6X state Champion Sprinter and the fastest player ever to play at Syracuse University. Moe ran a 4.18 and 4.19 forty-yard dash.

2. Mike Morris 4.21 Joe Morris brother/ holds SU 100m dash record of 10.09.

3. Sean Tucker 4.27 high ( has not been timed after this years track season ) Dino thinks he's faster!

4. Marvin Harrison 4.38 seconds With the 19th overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft, then-Colts general manager Bill Tobin selected Marvin Harrison out of Syracuse. He wasn't the biggest (6'0", 185 lbs), but he was quick, clocking 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash at Syracuse, and he possessed another key that NBC Sports analyst Tony Dungy highlighted. EDIT: 4.29 per the article by tep624.

5. Jawhar Jordan 4.37

The 2013 NFL Scouting Combine is upon us, and there are four former Syracuse players participating in Indianapolis. Ryan Nassib, Justin Pugh, Shamarko Thomas and Alec Lemon all secured invites and will begin their workouts as early as Friday and continue through Tuesday.

From 1999-2012, Syracuse had 40 players participate in the combine, with at least one player attending each year. It was a mixed bag of results, with some standout performances and others that left much to be desired.

Using data compiled on

nflcombineresults.com

, we put together a chart of every Syracuse athlete to participate in the aforementioned time frame. Here’s a look at who took part and the results of their measurable drills (analysis at the bottom):

Can't find a time for Mike, yet. but a 10.3 would be a 4.3.

I could have sworn Marvin Harrison ran a 4.19 at the combine but maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.

Great post. As if we needed a reminder, Dwight Freeney was insanity.

Doesn't look like Harrison ran the 40 at the combine. Looks like he ran a 4.38 40 at Syracuse his senior year.

https://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/31/sports/football/31harrison.html
Thinking about this more I think it was a 4.29 40. And maybe it wasn't at the combine but I'm pretty sure it was pre-draft.

This article references a 4.29 for him.

I'll never forget, on the opening kickoff / end around to Kirby Dar Dar, when we scored on the first play of the game against Florida. As Dar Dar broke free and raced up the left sidelines -- with no Florida special team coverage players near him -- Qadry Ismail came racing up the sidelines behind Dar Dar with his hands in the air in celebration.

Not a body position optimal for hitting your top speed, but he caught up to Dar Dar [who was FAST] easily.

The Missile had wheels.
One of the best moments

Maurice Jackson was said to run a 4.19 40. He was from Marshall HS in Rochester.

I think I read that Ernie Davis ran a 10.7 100 yard dash in HS.

But I think Mike Morris, who was a younger brother to Joe Morris, is probably number 1. He ran track and played football at Syracuse.

Last I knew, he still holds the all time records at SU for the 100m (10.32) and 200m (20.52).
Joe Morris (Ayer High Class of ’78) rushed for 3,367 yards and 49 touchdowns for Ayer High, then broke all the Syracuse University rushing records held by Jim Brown, Floyd Little and Larry Csonka. The 5-foot-7 cannonball went on to star for the Giants.

Mike Morris (Ayer High Class of ’81) starred in football and track at Ayer and Syracuse University. He set national high-school sprinting records and later beat Olympic legend Carl Lewis three times over 100 meters.

EDIT:
Morris Brothers Set White Plains Marks - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

Ayer (Mass.) High School made its first appearance at the Loucks Games today and its debut was a smashing success. The New England team posted three impressive victories.

Which brings us to Mike, 5'10", 165 pounds. He ended up being a freshman at Syracuse with Larry because Earl Morris decided Larry should repeat fourth grade. "Teacher just kept promoting Larry," says Earl, "and he just kept getting dumber. That didn't make no sense." But that meant Mike, also a running back, didn't get to carry the ball as much (only 1,216 yards as a senior at Ayer and a paltry 15 touchdowns). MacPherson plans to make Mike a wide receiver for the Orange because of his speed.

At Ayer, he destroyed Joe's track records so completely that big brother's marks look as if he had to stop and ask directions en route. Joe did a 9.7 100; Mike was 9.2. Joe ran a 220 in 21.9; Mike had a 20.9. Joe was on a 440-yard relay team that clocked a 43.4; Mike was on a team—which included Larry and Jamie—that did 41.2. Mike went to the New England championships and ran a 10.36 in the 100 meters, better than the then-listed National Federation record of 10.4 set by Darren Walker (the senior Stanford running back who, like brother Joe, is a long-shot Heisman candidate). Later, at an invitational in Naperville, Ill., Mike ran a 10.34.
