Class of 2026 WR Calvin Russell (FL) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (7/5/25)

Hey Michigan:
Revenge is best served COLD. Remember Henniger's Marquis Walker?
Fran didn't forget.
If Russell has the career Walker had at Michigan, I would be very happy

Not trying to overhype the kid. And I’m not one to overhype kids before they set a foot on a college football field. BUT this is going to sound like alot…he has the potential to be one of, if not the best receivers to come through Cuse.

I’m not saying that because of how rated he was as a recruit. But 6’5, athletic, runs a sub 4.5. Those guys don’t come through Cuse often, if ever. If he stays with it, is in the weight room and Fran gets even a DECENT QB for him. Then Russell will be one of the best Receivers to come through here and I don’t take that lightly. Based on physical attributes, raw talent, size and skill alone. He’ll have a hell of a career here if Fran puts him in the right spot and Calvin puts the work in
Megatron was 6'5 235. I see a size parallel by the time he gets to his second year here.

Not that he runs the 4.35 with the 42" vertical leap Calvin Johnson had... But who does?

That’s perfect lol. Also, same.

His QB highlights are sick, kid is just a complete fb player.
Yup. That’s pretty much what I said earlier too. If you want to get a good look at his athleticism, watch his Regular Szn highlight from his junior year playing mostly QB. It’s very rare for a 6’-5” guy to have that much wiggle and explosion. There will also be a few trick QB end around passes in our future.

Would not be too surprised to see a few shifts that end up with him at QB. Watching him in that first play was like watching a 6’5” Mike Vick. I almost felt sorry for some of those 6’ DBs. Calvin is gonna wreak havoc!

Dude, I am doing a rewatch of Breaking Bad with my son (it’s his first time). Last night? The greatest episode in the history of television, Ozymandias, where Huell thought for a split second Walt was going to kill him lol
Just seeing this post today, but oddly doing the exact same thing. I could have written this post. Only difference is we started three days ago.

Agreed. Calvin is the deal, could play QB easily. With his arm, speed and jukes I believe he may be utilized in plays that will show his skills and lead to SU TDS.

Seeing as he played QB only in the 2023 season when it was a need due to injury, and then went back to WR, I don't think he'll be playing QB. But I will love the trick plays that should surely happen.

With the mention of Tremble taking some snaps at LB, it makes me wonder if the plan is to use Russell at the Move TE or slot receiver similarly to OG II.

Unreal film. This kid could catch his own pass.

I think if OG had this kid's speed, he would have played outside more. Could be wrong

I feel like OG could have played either WR or TE but TE was a better fit in our offense to get more opportunities and also because then you make the TE a very good position and can bring in other WR's that are more dynamic than the rest of our TE options. I think OG had pretty solid speed, maybe Russell is faster though. But Russell certainly has more agility.

He is light on his feet, agile and has exceptional acceleration. 6'5 guys rarely possess this type of athleticism. Looks a lot like a WR that played for Marshall awhile back...
