Class of 2026 WR Calvin Russell (FL) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (7/5/25)

Seems like from prior visits (think he has been here at least twice) he seemed to share some pretty positive vibes and his mom was all in on the Cuse gear second time around. Gotta believe Fran connected well with the family. Pretty sure he shared some promising comments with some board fans. If you told me he would be committing I just wouldn't be surprised. Having Russell, Gough and the kid out of Delaware I think is a great WR haul. Bet Russell would try playing hoops as well. Hoping Russell is the next commit!
Hopefully we get Russell for another OV!

Miami board acting like they already lost Russell to Cuse
It’s confusing for fans from other teams, but Syracuse is all in again on football and really starting to become all in on athletics in general. That requires great players, we are not trying to rely on running gimmicky plays to win football games anymore, we want to win straight up because we are stronger and faster. This SEC and Big 10 trying to shut us out from competing at the highest level as an ACC member has woken up our administration. Successful Syracuse athletics is an important factor for a successful and highly ranked Syracuse University academic institution. When Syracuse athletics are not great it has a direct affect on the caliber of student we’re recruiting for academics. A huge selling point for students coming to Syracuse is the community that comes together around our successful sports teams.

i think it would be pretty cool if he committed to cuse on fourth of july weekend.

No, Ross our ex wide receiver coach is going after all our receivers he was recruiting while he was here.
It's kind of how it works and really how it works when you are competing for top talent with elite programs. These guys all have a job to do and are paid very well to do so. That said, that is why Fran is so heavily involved with almost all of these guys.

Hopefully he has a grass pollen allergy and it's dry and windy when he visits. (The county just north of Eugene is the grass seed capital of the world. The worst month by far is June. How do I know this obscure fact? - My son attends UO has a grass pollen allergy and in June he suffers.)

Believe it's Linn County. Then you hit Coburg, OR which is the RV capitial.

The problem with hay fever and grass allergies in that area is it rains all winter and then when the sun comes out in spring time it can be unbearable for quite a few folks. When it rains it rains all the time but when the sun comes out in the spring it's kind of there to stay for 4-5 months
