Class of 2026 WR Calvin Russell (FL) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (7/5/25)

Joey Chestnut, of all people, was involved in the Holiday Bowl trophy presentation and egg nog dunk. Could there be some twisted and ironic connection? Joey Chestnut on July 4 and Calvin Russell on July 5, tethered by destiny together via Cuse football?

I can confirm that I've heard very similar to richmondcuse03 from reputable sources - I'm very confident in the announcment(s) tonight. IF it plays out as I'm expecting today will be a pivitol point in the program taking the next step of Fran 'a plan.
Even with Wiltfong’s source leaning Michigan? (I know things can change quickly, as Wiltfong himself was leaning Syracuse yesterday).

I think the consensus is that nobody without close ties to the family knows anything. For those analysts, what is the safer pick, Michigan or Syracuse? Which teams have more fans who will click on the article?

I would believe people on this board who seem to be more connected to important figures in this recruitment. If they say it's Syracuse, it's Syracuse. If things change last minute, it is what it is. Been a fun ride, and part 1 is just ending now.

If a Fong bomb falls in the woods but it's a guess based on the same limited info as every idiot on Twitter, does it make a sound?

The fact he is a high profile, blue chip recruit. That commits today. And not a single crystal ball has been dropped. Should tell you all you need to know. No one has a damn clue where he is going. If they did they’d drop a crystal ball. But they won’t because they don’t want to ruin their percentages on being right on those things

I disagree slightly. If they had a clue it was a factory school they would drop in a second. If they gave the slight edge to a factory school because of its coach, they would drop a CB in a second. But because the “2nd tier” program has a slight edge due to its HC, everyone is silent.

I wonder if it's a case of "If I predict Cuse and am wrong I'll look like a fool" whereas if you say 'lean Michigan' and you are wrong, who is going to blame you? Literally no kid of Calvin's caliber has ever picked us in the 'recruiting era.' Heck I'm sure we've never even had a hat on the table before for a kid like this.

Fran changes everything. Tonight, I think he 'gets' his man. The one that's going to show the world we are different and that we are about to make some serious noise in the CFB world, so jump on in.

Yep and if he picks us, the articles will all throw in the “If Syracuse hangs onto him” type of stuff that will not be said if he picks Michigan

Of course. Because Russell is the outlier and not the norm.

That said, we have to start with those articles with (hopefully) Russell as our first elite level recruit. After Russell signs and stars for us, others will come and eventually those articles will die away.

The amount of articles out there about imminent flips that haven’t materialized on some of our already committed prospects backs this up.
