Class of 2026 WR Calvin Russell (FL) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (7/5/25)

Welcome Calvin, and thank you FRAN *CKING BROWN!

Going through MGOblog (UM forum) as soon as the news broke, all of a sudden Calvin was:

Gang affiliated
Not a culture fit
His personality is bad

And just like that, they analyzed his entire life and personality. He just wasn't a take.

LOL
They also felt that Jim Harbaugh was a great guy and that their sign stealing had no impact on winning that National Championship. Lots of big egos over in that state. And yes, they will rip on Russell now that he has turned his back on them.

So how did it taste?
Massive props for finding this gif - couldn't have been easy.

And Harbaugh will be watching and hoping for the opportunity to get him another tall wide receiver out of Syracuse when the time comes. Harbaugh seems to like OG a lot so far.

As one who avoids getting too excited by any singular recruit, I can’t help but be excited by what Fran is doing as a recruiter and program builder. Even one of the Michigan hosts of a commitment watch party predicted SU to go 8-4 this year. He’s a believer, too. As a group, the Michigan pundits don’t think we’ll hold on to Fran. Too good for Syracuse I guess. I did start following the coverage yesterday early in the day, buoyed by posts by Richmond, Jack Bauer, and Jeremy. Welcome Mr Russell. Thanks for joining our party, and Kudos to Fran for keeping it real…

The Michigan pundits didn't think that we'd land Russell, either -- thought he was too good for Syracuse.

Entitled morons.

The press alone in acquiring this guy is unreal

They loved Syracuse when McCord came here and made Ohio State look bad. Though, Ohio State did win the natty in the end, but man they were very close to have a lot of questions being asked of them of their decisions. Now they (Michigan) are perplexed and yes we are not going anywhere. We are serious, we are striving for a lot more than just pulling off an upset against a Clemson where everything needed to go our way in the game. We are going to match up with you physically and athletically.

So this leads me back to that charity golf tournament. I’m thinking that phone call that Fran got WAS the commitment phone call. And everything else has been smoke and mirrors since.
well then let’s all give credit where credit is due!!! Great work and thank you CusefanATL!!! You are amazing!!!

Our biggest problem is going to be NFL teams calling him with blank checks offers.

He has everything personality wise without the baggage a lot of coaches have. Just needs a little more experience but in reality alot of teams don’t even care about that.

Hell I was worried the Knicks might call and try to scoop him.
Fran's just built different, $4-6M a year for 10 years is already life changing money.
He truly feels his life's calling and not just a job, is coaching, teaching, mentoring, changing the lives of young men, in deep ways. NFL is a business and their players are men leading families and not young people needing guidance. He's not built for the NFL or what that job entails. This isn't his 'dream job' in the same way it was for Doug Marrone, this truly is his dream job, because SU allows him to fulfill his life's destiny and goals.

Monroe wasn’t the issue, it was Dino
Dino was the leader when a lot of good things started to happen in the program. We were a better and healthier program in November 2023 than November 2015. We have a lot of good and not so good memories with Dino and he brought some belief back amongst the fan base. Having said that, we are in a critical stretch for our football program, Dino was not the man to get us to a whole new level that we seem on track for today.
