WR group

And this type of thinking is why our WR and OL production is always poor. Players don’t always improve. WR’s and OL players definitely don’t improve here in the last 8 years, not enough to keep up with our peer schools. Every year, these groups will be better because they’re a year older and “S&C”. The trajectory for players isn’t always up; sometimes it’s down, sometimes it’s flat, sometimes it’s marginal improvement while our peer schools have players with significant talent at key positions. We’ve been very poor at recruiting both of those positions but especially WR.
What? Of course players don’t always improve, but most do. So many examples. Why so negative when the evidence is abundant?

Are we poor at recruiting? Yes, obviously.

Hatcher and Brown are prime examples of year over year improvement and both are lean/skinny. A year and more S&C, I expect both to take another step.

It’s not negative, it’s just accurate. Some players do improve, some don’t. There’s nothing negative about that. It’s also accurate our OL and WR groups especially don’t improve at the rates necessary to be competitive in the ACC since DB has been here. Part of that is recruiting, a large % of that in the WR group and some of that is coaching. But we’ve seen OL players making the same mistakes every single year.

It's not good when 3 of your best receivers in your 8 years, Estime, Ishmael, and Phillips were recruited before you got here.
