Are the $$$ figures for players being discussed per year "salaries", or are the amounts a 1-time lump sum payment?

If the amounts are yearly salaries, some must be way more than most of the assistant coaches make, correct?

you should check out NFL salaries in comparison to NFL coaches!

Obviously there's lines not to cross, but this isn't the Boy Scouts, and these aren't my kids. Some will disagree-but dealing with the kids and whatever baggage comes with them is Fran and the staffs job. If they want him on the roster, I'm good with it. Big time talent, hoping he puts it all together.

I'm more interested in winning football games then having choir boys. If he or anyone else screws up, you get rid of them.

I hear you and agree - the obvious risk is something happening that does cross the line and battling the I told you so criticisms that would come after.

It's a fine line that Fran (and the school) has to walk and own.

I thought we ran out of money and then we signed 3 veteran offensive lineman who should compete to start right away, a solid QB who a lot of people hoped would jump in the portal over the winter and a WR who instantly makes us forget about Trebor Pena. Fran is a force of nature. DA-RELENTLESS-T

I sincerely cannot believe what Fran has turned us into in less than 2 years. We still need to see how this year goes but as someone that most of my adult life has been Robinson, Marrone, Shafer and Babers... this is incredible. Not that it is the end-all be-all, but we've added five players in the last couple of days via the he transfer portal.

Three of them were five star recruits coming out of high school, the other two were four stars.

And the vast majority of players are getting “enough”,
or else they’d portal out.

Johntay is a slot receiver, like Trevor, and has a shot at putting up some big numbers there in our offense.

Hopefully he is willing to fight hard for 50-50 balls and work his butt off.

Could be very impactful.

Especially with likely a little more questions about the TE group, i see the slot being used A LOT this year. This could be a very valuable season for Johntay and the other slot receivers.

Hopefully this is the last Syracuse HC i will see for a very long time. From what i know if we take care of him he will stay. JW had better make sure he realizes that Football is back and do everything in his power to support Fran and his staff. Any decision between basketball and football support needs to tilt heavily towards the football program if we are going to make the next cut.
