No he has a ton of visits scheduled going through the process. He will probably be a fall commit type of guy. We are clearly in the running but I don’t think we have a clue where any schools stand in his order.

The Naples (Fla.) First Baptist Academy five-star prospect had a very interesting visit to Syracuse over the weekend where the message was for Watkins to “come here and be a legend.” That could be a compelling case for Watkins, who backed off earlier pledges to Texas A&M and Colorado, and has done a full reset of his recruitment.

The pitch was also to start his own way at Syracuse and to go there to create something special.

Florida, Clemson, Pitt, Indiana, Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas and Oregon among others are involved.

What’s the largest “Top X” list a recruit has ever posted (I believe the kids call it “dropped”)?

I want to see a croot with like 43 offers drop a “Top 40” list - maybe leave off Rutgers, Pitt, and Ped State.

That would be big time and would tell me a lot about their intangibles.

Great question. I've definitely seen top 16, top 20, but not sure I've ever seen anything beyond 20. Would love to know!

I can’t imagine getting contacted that often by that many schools. Then add family and friend calls to that. Kid must be on the phone all the time. Walk away from the phone for an hour, 30 texts. crazy!
