Writing is on the wall for Gait, this isnt gonna work.

My favorite posters are the ones that have bold takes but are perfectly fine self deprecating when things change. Good work J

Excuse me, but didn’t we win yesterday against a very good Princeton team?

Some posters for all cuse sports just live for negativity. They will barely say anything when things are good, but suddenly they are posting over the top pessimistic crap when things start looking bad. It is like they want to see the teams do bad just so they can have their moment talking about how terrible everything is.

Mr. Jeremy is NOT that dude! He is a devoted fan who without question wants to see the team succeed. Furthermore he backs up the points he is making with evidence rather than just spouting off, and a lot of the points he makes earlier in this thread are still accurate critiques of Gait and the team. While I did not agree with calling for Gait's head with a lot of the season still on the table, it was hard to argue with a lot of this in the immediate aftermath of the UNC loss, which was the low point of the season. Either way, the true negative nancys run to the hills at times like this, instead of owning up to things they said earlier like Jeremy did!

The team really struggled down the stretch and lost three in a row. At times the team has lost focus, made silly turnovers, and have struggled on defense.

Counterpoint is this team has put it together after an excellent ACC Tournament. If anything, the underlying theme is that the team has left some meat on the bone.

Talent has always been there and the last month they have showed what the ceiling is when everything is put together.

And a lot of credit to the players led by their captains, especially Caden Kol, plus Michael Grace.

I hope we have all learned that calling for somebody's head before a season has played out is crazy.

Truthfully, I am not enough of a lax junkie to fully understand the nuances of the game, but I do understand W's and L's and that college lacrosse has become a game of parity. Therefore, getting to a national final four is a huge accomplishment, as was winning a conference title. I am with the guy who accomplished those things.

As for Jeremy, he is far and away the best and most knowledgeable poster on the lax board. I am a fan of his, but in the case of this thread he jumped the gun. Leave it at that and enjoy what this team has accomplished already and what this team may still have left to achieve.

These types of threads were only allowed for SU Football. But not anymore.

I’ve learned they are the most talented squad in the nation. Though there are very good functioning teams that can beat us if we don’t match their competency as playing as a team. They beat two very good teams in Harvard and Princeton that both played amazing. A+ games. Two more!

In fairness I didn't call for him to be fired during the season I said once the year was over and assuming they lost in the 1st round of the ACC tourney which seemed likely after that brutalperformance against UNC. All of this obviously was before the Acc and tourney wins.

Team looked a lot better starting that ND game thankfully and was able to make an improbable comeback last week.

Next week's game against a guy like Tillman will be very interesting and massive as we have struggled against him to say the least.

Let's not pretend Gait is actually coaching. He is not. He is a figurehead. That's fine if it works which it seems to be for now at least. I must say it's really weird .... have never before seen a head coach do no coaching during a game, most notably during timeouts...just stands and observes from the periphery.

All of them. No more overpriced under produced off campus games as well
I'm referring to Kevin Corrigan, Notre Dame coach for ND blowing a 6 goal lead and losing to Penn St. But yes, his relatives the other Corrigans also.

Best post in this thread IMHO.

I agree that you cannot call for the HC's firing before a season is played out. As you mentioned, lacrosse has become a game of parity and getting this far sets any team above the ones that didn't.

I agree with your last paragraph also. Jeremy is the most knowledgeable person on this board with respect to lacrosse. I don't pretend to be close to his encyclopedic, informative mind with regards to lacrosse. But it was nice finally to read something in this thread that was positive about SU lacrosse and Jeremy's reply to the post above.

I believe we've done about as well as we can. If we win next Saturday, I will be surprised but I will not
call the game at this point. I'd love to see us do well despite the off-sides and turnover mistakes. We can't afford them anymore.

I was going to suggest that Jeremy who was very nice two years ago to explain the basics of lacrosse to this neophyte and why Desko had to go. Thank you. I was also going to ask Jeremy to put on his gear and go down to the field and show us what he'd do to lead this team - show them their shortcomings open his mouth and tell players who screw up what they did and sit them igf he feels they need to be sat.

There was a mention about Gary Gait being a figurehead. I think to some extent he is but what a figurehead. He's done it all, he is lacrosse. Perhaps there will be a change in the future but let's see what happens at Gillette first.
