Zeed Status?

Because coach literally said he needs to get back in playing shape. He probably has a few spare rolls around his waist now.

Regardless of what he said it’s unrealistic to think someone who was completely away from the team and living in another state for 2 months to just get reinserted.

Wax and Pena were also going to need more time and they played against Pitt. I think Fran is playing mind games. Sounds like a couple of posters seem to have some inside info and are confident he plays. I trust them and look forward to seeing him back out there!

The last time Fran played mind games the team looked like they hadn’t practiced all week. This time better be different.

I know. But we don't know that he was healthy those last 8 games so the RS or was he dinged a bit in practice week 5-6 and they decided to shut it down. Or maybe he was healthy the whole time.

FB would know though.
Doesn’t seem to be any indication of that.

Do you remember what it's like to be 20 years old? He doesn't need any time to play limited snaps. He didn't forget how to be a WR or develop stone hands in two months.

I’m also assume he was working out while away from the team, especially if he knew he was coming back eventually. I know game shape is different than just being in shape, but I’d imagine with presumably 2 weeks of practice, Zeed is ready to go.

Pretty sure he’s also the kind of kid who can’t gain weight if he tried. He doesn’t even know what a fat roll is.

a great way to get into game shape would be to play against a defense giving up 246 passing yards per game.

268 at home

332 to Louisville

He's catching passes tomorrow (i say, with 0 inside info)

The way redshirt's are handed out these days i'm sure Zeed could get one for a family emergency. That said, Fran doesn't seem like the type of guy to care if a kid plays 4 or 5 games, which i'm totally fine in during a year where we sit at 6-2 with BC, Cal, UConn, Miami. This could be too big of an opportunity to turn down. However, if he's only played 2 game and he's only going to be out there for 10 snaps for BC, and with the emergence of JRS, i'd say give him another week to get back in football shape, play Cal, rest UConn, and then play Miami. Actually screw it. Since we'll be in the gator bowl vs LSU/Bama he'll have a full 7 games this season if he returns this week. Unleash our full offensive arsenal!!

If he was playing I wouldnt tell anyone as a coach.

He has sat around from the physical stuff for 2 months.

If his legs are ready you can have him ready for a small set up plays

Also we don't know how his class room stuff is going. playing puts, him a few more days behind as well with the traveling.

We seem him great. I don't think offense is the reason we lose this game.

Assuming he plays, how does our rotation work now?

Hatcher who only got 2 snaps will almost surely be out of the rotation. Same with Gill, especially after the costly fumble. All a sudden we have an embarrassment of riches at the catching the ball position (to add OG to the convo) that we haven't had since...? McCord certainly doesn't lack for weapons. That's why we need to make seasons like these count!

well if McCord wants to take a couple 50/50 deep shots our chances are better if we’re not sending Hatcher.

Wait, Hatcher only played 2 snaps?

And people are still complaining about the guy?

He played more than 2 snaps I thought. But he didn't play much

He could barely run on the field .

All the more reason that while people said he quit on the one 50/50 throw. I dont think he physically could do much anyway to go get that ball.

I think that if you are gonna be in tight coverage anyway on those throws might as well let Meeks try to go get it.

Yeah it was a weird decision to throw him on the field for that play when he clearly wasn’t right. He does, to be fair, however have a history of not being great on 50/50 balls so people predictably were going to react. Doesn’t make it right.

50/50 throws can work.

But as we have seen, most every 50/50 he has seen the DB is deeper than him and not running in stride.

you need to be able to control part of the field to make a 50/50 ball work or you need to be physically stronger. He hasnt had much help on most of these plays.

I wish posters with a track record of getting good info would just stop posting and ruining the surprise on gameday!

At this point in college football's evolution, redshirts should only be used on those who have something that's prevented them from playing 5 games (injury, family matter, etc.), or for a freshman who's just not ready to play.

Otherwise you should treat it as if you're just saving that redshirt for someone else's team. If a player is healthy and can contribute in anyway to a win, play them.

I feel bad if he is hurt as i was one of the people calling him out but that doesnt help the other 5 balls in beginning when he wasnt hurt. Me as a coach u make that kid sit until he is better physically or go after them balls mentally. Hoping he can get better.
