Houston lost Amie on signing day.
They had no time to recover from that.

What happened to us sucks but Bazley did it 7 months before next season.

Football is a little different, he wasn't going to start next year and that's part of the deal. High schools are graduating in a couple of months.

"If a player doesn't want to go to school, GO PRO! Go play overseas! You don't have to go to school!"

*player goes pro*

"What a jerk!!! He should go to school!!!"
That’s fine just don’t sign a document that says you’re coming to school and then back out of it! What are coaches supposed to do? Wiretap these kids to get wind of potential interference? It’s one thing to plan for 1-and-done but how do you plan for (0 or 1)-and-done?

Well, the Ohio State thing was in the aftermath of the Matta firing so understandable. But this is indefensible.

He decommitted from Ohio State prior to Matta leaving.

We flipped a QB Chance Amie from a verbal to Houston in December were you mad about that?

We flipped Tyus Battle from a verbal to Michigan 2 years ago.

What about the guys that did come here and then told them they weren’t good enough to play here and showed them the door. Buss, BJ, Kaleb, Chinoso, then Thorpe comes and doesn’t get run. We expect 100% loyalty but don’t give it out, or only give it to worthy players.

The point was about kids giving verbal commitments.
But this isn't one of those cases. This was a signed letter of intent. That's a lot more serious and binding than a verbal commit. That means hold a scholarship, because I'm coming to play for you. People have a right to be upset about how this went down. Verbal commits are one thing, but this is totally different.

Yeah, but you see they weren’t very good.

Well, it's one thing to go pro. Totally fine, in fact.

But not after you signed documents saying you're going to play at a given school for the next season (at a minmum).

I mean, he was literally talking about what it was going to be like to play at Syracuse LAST NIGHT.
His future teammates didn't even find out about this until we all did.

We all knew he was going Pro after year in college. It's what he signed up for.
Emphasis on the *signed* part.

How does a player plan when he gets recruited over?

It's sucks. But this is the dirty game college sports has decided it will be.

After they see him succeed and stay healthy, sure.

Doesn’t college seem like the safer way to gamble that though?
But if he isn’t eligible for the draft what is stopping the kids from basically being called up and signed as a call up free agent pick up. In other words pretty much a work around to the one and done rule.

Obviously the signed document doesn't mean much?

Listen in most cases the player leaves because they know they won’t play meaningful minutes. How often is the scholarship forcibly taken away?

Can someone explain why - in 2018 - college students who happen to play a sport can't have agents and make as much money as they can?

The LOI means you can’t go to another school without being granted a release. That’s it.

Not playing to coaches expectations? Too bad. You’re transferring. And you have to sit out a year.

Coach gets a better offer? He’s gone and starts immediately. Player wants to go to a bigger program? Not until after you sit out a year, and maybe not at all if coach has his way.

As a Cuse fan his sucks but yeah sorry I’m not gonna tip the kid because he wants to make some money on his talent.

This should be tacked to the top.
Perfect analysis.

Why can’t the agent pay him and he comes to Syracuse?
Like all these recruits.
The agent doesn’t pay for the schools
The agent pays so when the kid leaves he hires them.

The agent paying him to go to the G-League does nothing.
The school doesn’t have to pay if it’s an agent.
So let me get this straight. You think there’s something inherently wrong with the program and your solution is cheating?
