Recruiting Updates

6'1, but this might be one of those recruiting experts really crossing their fingers that he'd be 6'1 by freshman year. :)
I learned from the best brother. But he's definitely not tiny. Saw him up close (2nd row) and looks to be a 6 footer.
Thanks. I read an article where he states that he expects to be 6'3 in a few years. Like we said, he's worth monitoring as a 2016 recruit and we could always use shooters.

Dang. I am on the same side as the camera. Not in this clip, but man, what a game and incredible finish. We almost bailed on the end as my son was rather crab-appley, but he was glad he stuck it out for Malachi's great finish and winning basket.

Thanks, man. And happy birthday to Kaleb!

iommi and other NJ recruiting enthusiasts...
Semis and most tourneys are under way this week.

Diagne and Pope John face Mount Olive on 2/20

Tyus Battle and Gill St. Bernard's host Ridge tonight, 2/18
http://highschoolsports.nj.com/school/gladstone-gill-st-bernards/boysbasketball/schedule/

Also in action are Trenton Catholic and Malachi, RC and Chris Silva but their playoffs are structured differently from what I remembered from last season.
Either way, hopefully fios1 shows some of these playoff games. I'm guessing they will start with respective sectional finals and air most of the TOC games. I did have another look for the ones we were looking for, but nothing yet. Never give up. :)

Edit: GSB and Tyus' game on 2/18 was not a playoff matchup. They play the same team who blew them out yesterday on Saturday, 2/22. Payback time, kids. Payback time.

Nice report as always DF.

In addition to Miami bound one time SU hoops target Newton, SU football recruit Jamal Custis also plays for Neumann-Goretti. He had 10 points against highly regarded Carroll big man Ernest Aflakpui. Looks like he has been busy in the weight room (Custis is in white, Aflakpui in black). Aflakpui is 6'9 225 pounds, class of 2015. Probably not an SU level player but a good one nonetheless.

One more picture of Aflakpui and Custis below. Jamal throwing down a dunk...

I would say he passes the look test.

Thanks to both Francis and Tom. Always been a fan of Newton even though he's Miami bound. Just a tough Philly guard, bullies his way into the lane and a natural scorer. Another Triche clone, sort of.

If Custis stayed with b-ball, there is no doubt in my mind that he could have been an A-10 All Conference player down the line at a school like LaSalle or St. Joe's.

Any chance he makes it onto both rosters like McNabb did? If he is at Cuse on a football scholly, can he play as a walk-on or non-scholarship player for bball?

I believe this is his plan...

Staff must see something in Tyler that does not show in the stats. Tall 3 pt specialist?

New Hampton (and Brewster for that matter) usually play a very deep bench. But aside from his range, he's been rebounding the ball well the entire season (usually in double digits) and he's a lot more athletic than people realize. Plenty of dunks, at least one great block in this clip. Enjoy!

There is certainly a lot to like in that clip! Put me in the camp that can't wait for Lydon to come to Cuse.

Competition, competition, competition. Both of these teams are STACKED with D1 talent.

Thank you for that. I forgot just how nasty that dunk was. Fair has had some great dunks in his 4 years in orange.

Have a feeling that Lydon's going to have a pretty big summer.

I'm never wrong...
