0-4 against P5 opponents

It took years to get comparable money for the Melo Center, which is an actual usable important building.

And FWIW the "buyout" is a creation of this board right up there with Chris Ashe.
I’d imagine the budget for continuity/turnover in staff is separate from amenities right? No clue but itd make sense to me

I would think? Educated guess it would have to be funded.
Was listening to sec analysts this morning discussing the likelihood of LSU pushing Ed out to the tune of 25-30 mil when all’s said and done if they got blown out today.

I like him, and am glad they’re playing well. That’s an interesting what-if to think about if Cuse went a different direction in hiring at the time.

When the Melo Center was built was the AD getting an annual paycheck of 35 million dollars every single Season for TV revenue?

The Melo Center was built with private donations.

You can prob find 3 dozen - promising start building to a good/very good season followed by a dip after a contract extension?

C’mon.

As always, please tell me where you’d have fired him. After the pandemic season? After the 5 win just signed an extension season?

Ok, names?

Tbh I would have seriously considered after last season but I’m not privy to the buyout information. Very few P5 coaches survive a 1-10 season.

Chris Ash was the last in 2018 (1-11) but he was short leash fired 4 games into the 2019 season.

There isn’t a lot of precedence in Dino’s favor here.

That is fine.
We now get annual paychecks for TV rights alone in excess of 35 million.
I mean this isn’t pre-ACC anymore.
We have a huge revenue stream coming in every year.
Football is what causes an overwhelming majority of that money to be sent every year.

Money shouldn’t be the reason we keep a coach. I am not saying get rid of a coach after 2 or 3 years.
This is year 6.

So...the ACC is behind the other P5 conferences in payouts, yet its so much for us that we just have a pile of money sitting there that we don't know what to do with?

But again, the "buyout" is becoming internet lore.

Thank you admitting the last point.
People on here seem to think this buyout means we can’t make a move.
We can if we want too.
If we don’t then it’s our AD’s choice.

By "internet lore" I mean that "the buyout" is what's standing between Dino and a pink slip. I don't believe that at all and there's no hard evidence of that.

I’m not at home and have no time to check it. But if you’re wondering if guys who win 10 games in year 3 get an extension, normally. They do. Some go on to justify the extension and some don’t.

I know some here don’t see last season with an asterisk, but most AD’s have.

This year has shown major improvement. I’d be shocked if we didn’t win 2-3 of the remaining games. If we don’t, it’s 50/50 - just depends on what metrics Wildhack is using.

His performance doesn’t warrant keeping him for a 7th season if we only have 1 bowl appearance in 6 seasons.

Last season counts.
The entire roster were all players Dino recruited.
He recruited the roster that went 1-10.
I understand COVID affected everyone in the nation last year. Dino was paid for last season.
Moral victories in year 6 aren’t good enoug.
It’s W and Ls

i saw in another thread you said you gave Dino a pass in 2019. I’m curious and this isn’t at all a dig or anything, I truly want to know your thoughts as to why you gave him a pass in 2019 and not 2020??

I'm mercifully walking away from my computer in 5 minutes...but the roster was absolutely gutted. Nevermind COVID New York was far different than any other place.

Dave Martinez had a roster gutted this summer too. He ain't getting fired either.

“A dip”? The guy has a losing record here and one winning season. It’s not a dip it’s largely a crater.

Possibly Shrader:

However, on January 3, 2020, Moorhead was fired after finishing 6–7 following a 38–28 loss to Louisville in the Music City Bowl. Besides the Bulldogs' lackluster performance in that game, athletic director John Cohen and other school officials were angered when they learned quarterback Garrett Shrader had suffered an eye injury during a fight in practice. Shrader had missed the game with what Moorhead initially described as an "upper body injury."[14][9]

Is that not an upper body injury lol

I gave him a pass to be fired for that.
The 1-10 and a 4-8 this year should be grounds for dismissal.

When you win a championship you get a grace period.

Going 9-3 and winning a bowl game and having 5 other bowl less seasons doesn’t give the same patience.

If the Nats lose 90+ next year Martínez will be gone but the 2019 championship gives him some rope.

Talk about a group of people that don't want to pay dead money (Lerners).

Baseball managers don’t get long term contracts and they don’t get paid that much. The position has been derailed by analytics telling coaches what to do.

Sounds like what some want in college football. (my ride is late)

Pretty sure Dino and other higher paying university employees took a pay cut last year

I didn’t imply he didn’t take a paycut.
I said he was paid for last year.

We kept him after 1-10 because of Covid.
4-8 this year isn’t good enough.
5-7 isn’t good enough.

We are playing the softest schedule in Dino’s 6 years.
6 wins isn’t a lot to ask.
