12 Team Playoff Coming

I'm not disputing that. Read what actually said.
your quoted text doesn't seem to have room for interpretation in regards to top 4 champs receiving byes. It would imply that Georgia(or #2 sec) or Notre dame cant be placed into the bracket higher than 5th and thus could never get a bye with the 4 top conference champs being placed 1 through 4.

lets take the rankings from December 5th of last year .

if these were the rankings and the 12 team playoff was in for last year, I interpret the text above to mean, the only other way to interpret is putting pitt and Utah at 5 and 6 and sliding at larges down 2 spots each the bracket would go like this:
1-Alabama(Sugar Bowl)
2-Michigan(Rose Bowl)
3-Cincinnati(Peach Bowl)
4-Baylor(orange Bowl)

5- Georgia
12-Pittsburgh
____________________________winner plays Baylor

6-ND
11-Utah
____________________________winner plays Cincinnati

7-Ohio State
10-Oklahoma State*
____________________________winner plays Michigan

8-Ole Miss
9-Michigan St *
____________________________winner plays Alabama

* 2 teams flipped to avoid conference matchup in opening round, after that conferences matchups are allowed.

Would hate to see 2nd round conf matchups or teams that have already played. Final Four is ok.

You haven't paid attention to all of my comments. I am saying the pole does not have to reflect the seedings. If Georgia is viewed by the committee as the 3rd best team in the country and they end up as the second best team in the SEC, the committee can place them at 3 in the rankings but the rules of the playoff state they cannot be seeded higher than 5th. Notre Dame would be the same. If they beat everyone by 100 points, the committee could say they think they're the #1 team in the country but they would be seeded no higher than 5th.

Me saying a #2 team in a conference or an independent can't get a bye is not implied. It's stated in the proposed rules.

UGA-Oregon is a classic so far!! Hopefully we see a rematch in the 12 team playoff soon.

Man its going to be great watching 4 loss 12 seed Georgia the 4th or 5th SEC team in the field go to an empty Autzen Stadium in December when the students are on break and pull off a tough upset against the Pac 12 champs huh? Can't wait to watch that!

stick to hoops frankie, the game will be sold out and it will be the highest rated show on tv that night.

it will likely draw more eyeballs than every Cuse hoop game combined in 24/25...and toss in the ratings for their most recent bowl game leading up to the playoffs as well.

This is the type of game you get when teams like this meet these days. UGA were 17 point favorites.

We have a 2 vs 5 matchup tonight. Again 17 point spread.

12 means that we should see the 4 best possible tier 2 bowl matchups.

Followed by the 4 best tier 1 bowl matchups.

Followed by the Final 4.

They’re giving you a cheat sheet for the only 11 ‘bowl’ games that matter.

I’m currently watching 25+.

I’ll still watch the other 14+ as that’s where the Orange likely will be, but I know where the bread is buttered.

As far as the score and the spread….thats why they play the games.

We're going to see a post like that every time and SEC team waxes someone.

the poll ends up being meaning less once the seedings are announced though

It should be 16 with auto bids to all conferences. No byes - everybody has to win the same number of games. If you are a conference recognized by FBS, your champ should be a bid.

At first I was anti 12 game

Now I’ve come to love the idea

Can’t wait for this to get started!!!

So to repeat what I probably said in this thread a month or two ago, but the obvious number is 8. That way, there are no byes, no extra rest, no unfair advantage. Keep it to 3 consecutive weeks, and eliminate the conference championship games. Start in Mid-December and Finish the Week of New Years.

I don’t care how much they extend the playoff as I don’t like it and probably never will like it. Just keep the bowls and I’m happy, this isn’t FCS or NFL.

Idk people were poo pooing this saying it’s a waste because it’s always going to be chalk. Which I disagree with but man, this would be the perfect year for 12. Besides Georgia is anyone head and shoulders above anyone else? Michigan just smoked Ohio state and mostly everyone else but needed a last second field goal to beat Illinois at home.

Second point, I think first 2 rounds should be at home. Give the teams that were really good that extra advantage. That’s also why I like the top 4 byes. Makes the top teams play for top 4 to get a bye and extra week off. But also why I would like second round games as home games. More college feel and gives that advantage for finishing ahead of other teams. Final four should be neutral imo. But you know, there is a ton of money passed out at these bowl games and a lot of mouths to feed.

On a side note, would the team and individual stats be continued? Playing 3 or more games could really skew the record books.

In my opinion this is fantastic news for SU and for the ACC.
ND will remain independent and keep their agreement with the ACC.
The PAC and ACC will announce an agreement to play games and possibly a cross conference championship inceasing revenue for both leagues.
Great news for Syracuse.

Go to a per game basis, like basketball does.

Hate the format. Crazy that a team like Clemson can go from a 9 seed to a 4 seed because they are the 4th best conference champ.

Also playing in 3 Bowl games is so unfair to the fans. You need to make travel plans on the fly 3x. The 2nd round should be at home also. Plus it protects the Top seeds. Let the season mean something.

Well then the FBS shouldn't recognize those conferences and problem solved. Don't water down the product.
