2013 not over but 2014 looks bright.

If Im a FLA defensive back I will be all over SU. Our secondary been loaded with all Florida guys. most of them are 3 or 4 year starters. Reddish/Morgan are the only players who sniffed the field that are not from Florida. lol

I agree with most. Not sure if we will be a top 25 team for 2014. My concerns are depth at DT and Corner back next year. Raymon might not be ready to come back next season so Wayne Willams will be relied on heavily. We are gonna have to rely on freshman Corners, W. Morgan can play corner but he has no exp there. Scissum's skill set is more suited for safety. Jaston George hasnt been on the field and he's always banged up.
Not really worried about corner. Lynn is already gone, so all we lose from the current rotation is Anderson. I think between Reddish, Whigham and Morgan we'll be fine with a couple frosh added in. Surely some of these Florida DB's can play corner also.

Sorry, but after this season, next year begins and ends with finding effective WRs.

This.

Broyld has to get better at being a WR.

Estime I think will be even better.

But KJ, Custis, Cooper all have to be able to step in and give us something immediately.

Hicky and Jerome are gone, folks. Hickey is the most definite to leave as he's projected to be the best pro on the current roster and has battled injuries in the past. LT is a major concern next year and you don't move Foy over there. Does anyone really see Knapp as an effective starter next year?

I always look at it as anyone that can leave as a junior will and if they don't, it's a pleasant surprise.

There's a lot of talent on the team and hopefully coming but the leaders will be hard to replace. Hopefully somebody steps up and is a leader who can take a punch or two.

I think Knapp will be a very good starter at LT just based on how Marrone recruited the position.

His offensive tackle recruits from high school are like this:

2010 - Sean Hickey
2011 - Kristofer Curtis (whom everyone was pretty high on as I remember), Ivan Foy
2012 - Kyle Knapp
2013 - Jonathan Burton (developmental)

I think Marrone brought in good OT's, he just didn't bring in many.

No reason Knapp shouldn't follow in the footsteps of Hickey and Foy and be a solid avg starter on that side. Plus, his responsibilities will be lesser then that of other past LT's b/c the offense will have a mobile QB.

Big fan of the talent coming in. Only thing that worries me are DB depth and the typical true frosh QB problems.

Offensive Line
Think Knapp can replace enough of Hickey that LT isn't a problem (maybe not an asset)
Think Emerich can replace enough of McPherson that C isn't a problem (maybe not an asset)
Think Trudo will be a difference making lineman next year

Wide Receivers
Think Cooper will come in and immediately be the best WR on the team
Think Williams will compete for time
Think Ishmael (if he comes here) will be one that will compete for time if not start
Think Estime will be a gamechanger in this offense
Think Broyld will improve his hands and route running enough to be a consistent 4 or 5 catch a game threat

Running Backs
Think Morris will continue the line of 1,000 yard backs.
Think there is more depth here then people think (McFarlane, Erv Phillips, Naes Howard if in a bind) and wouldn't be surprised to see them pickup a JUCO back if Jerome declares

Quarterback
Think either Long or Edouard is a 4 year starter at QB

Defensive Line
Think Ryan Sloan (and not Wayne Williams) will be the one to come closest to replace Jay Bromley
Think Eric Crume will be a difference maker inside
Think Donnie Simmons will join with Ron Thompson to harass QB's on 3rd down

Linebackers
Think Hodge can replace enough of Spruill that LB isn't a problem
Think Dyshawn and Cam will be vying for best player on the defense

Corner
Think Whigham will become the team's best CB and the closest thing to a lock-down guy in awhile
Think Morgan will take over for Anderson as sideline CB due to tackling ability

Safety
Think Eskridge will have a big enough year where he will entertain idea of going pro
Think Kelly will be a hard-hitting replacement for Wilkes

I think Marrone brough in a lot of good OT's, he just didn't bring in many.
I have to say, has me somewhat confused by this statement. Where is the line drawn between "a lot" and "many"?

The OT's he brought in were good. Just didn't bring in a lot.

Not my best worded statement!

I can see either leaving but an issue with Hickey is that this is a fairly deep offensive line draft class unlike last year where it was a little top heavy. Jerome could leave but I could see him returning if he isn't anticipated to go too early. Either way, I wish them all the best if they leave early. We need some more SU ambassadors in the NFL alongside Freeney, the Jones bros, Gregory, and Pugh.

We need to bring in a least one more Rb this class, perferably two. Jerome is no lock to return next year and Erv is even less of a lock to qualify at this point. We could potentially be looking at only 3 rbs on the entire roster. I really hope this staff has another back in mind.

If Jerome leaves I'd agree that maybe we bring in a juco. I still find it hard to believe he'll leave. Kids don't usually leave when they are projected to be a 6th round pick as he currently is. Hickey is projected 3rd round so he may be more likely considering he has been injured in the past. Regardless, I'd agree that another back in this frosh class wouldn't hurt considering they are looking at Howard as a S.

i have 100% confidence in Knapp. Everything we have heard about him since he got on campus has been overly positive. From the times I have seen him he has been very impressive. Very physical, and can move. Many thought he would contend for a starting spot this year, but he got banged up in Fall camp. He will be a very good 3 year starter for us I have no doubt. Same exact thing I said for Knapp can be said for Emerich as well. Our offensive line is in good shape for the next 2 seasons
