Charlie Partridge dismissed as Florida Atlantic head coach

Charlie Partridge has been dismissed as Florida Atlantic head coach, CoachingSearch has confirmed. ESPN West Palm first reported the news.

Partridge went 9-27 in three seasons, posting a 3-9 record every year. The offense improved under first-year coordinator Travis Trickett this season, despite heavy injuries to the offensive line, but the defense dropped 40 spots in scoring defense. They lost four games by six points or fewer.

“I want to thank Charlie Partridge for putting his heart and soul into Florida Atlantic University for the past three years,” AD Pat Chun said in a release. “He led our program with integrity and character. Most importantly, he impacted the lives of our student-athletes and that will have a lasting effect.”

Partridge worked under Bret Bielema at Wisconsin and Arkansas from 2008-13, coaching the defensive line. He previously coached at Pitt from 2003-07.

FAU’s program is just over a decade old. It hasn’t posted a winning record since 2008 under Howard Schnellenberger. The program has a new stadium, and an indoor practice facility is in the works. It’s a job that will have a lot of interest in the coming weeks.

Might as well join the idiocy...Dino babers to Florida Atlantic?

Football Scoop:

Baylor: Trav Haney of 247 writes that Baylor has moved on from Chad Morris. However, sources tell us this is not the case. Haney mentions other candidates as Larry Fedora, Mike MacIntyre, Sonny Dykes and Philip Montgomery.

Where we stand on coaching hiring and firings

BAYLOR
It’s possible nothing gets finalized at Baylor until early next week after the current team finishes its season, but SMU’s Chad Morris remains solidly atop a group of the usual suspects who have ties to the state of Texas such as Fedora and California’s Sonny Dykes. Someone like Rhule could be intriguing to Baylor athletics director Mack Rhoades, but concerns about the cultural fit of a Northeasterner who does not have experience recruiting the state of Texas are very much part of the calculus.

Good post. Someone Wolkon mentioned who I am shocked isn't getting more pub is Willie Taggart. Guy has done a great job at USF.

Though a potential Oregon coaching hire could produce some fallout, it appears there will be precious few opportunities for promising coaches such as Western Kentucky’s Jeff Brohm, South Florida’s Willie Taggart, Temple’s Matt Rhule, Tulsa’s Philip Montgomery, Troy’s Neal Brown and Appalachian State’s Scott Satterfield to move into Power Five jobs.

News, Notes & Quotes - Nov. 29

- Bob Diaco sent a message in a press release announcing a staff change.

The Huskies were dead last nationally in scoring at 14.8 points per game. They scored two touchdowns in their final four-and-a-half games. Offensive coordinator Frank Verducci was demoted late in the season and will move to a non-coaching role. Diaco now will look for a new OC.

“The offensive production of our football team in 2016 was far below the standards that any of us expect it to be,” Diaco said in the release. “This is a very important decision for the future of our football program and we will bring to our team an individual who can make an immediate impact as we continue to build the program.”

The release also stated this, which wasn’t a quote: “Evaluations of each member of the UConn coaching staff will take place in the coming weeks by head coach Bob Diaco.”

So much rumor mongering in that USA today article it's astonishing, I find the Jim MCelwain stuff to be amusing.i wonder if Florida fans go into a panic like Syracuse fans did. I do agree with the sentiment there though, Florida fans and I know a few seem pretty ho hum about the coach even though he has one two SEC. I say Oregon keeps the coach but who knows. Would be funny to see Holgorsen leave WVY for Houston as they gave him a big FU last year, he's turned out to be pretty good but doesn't seem to be able to win the big game

Just like BC with Addazio, UConn can't afford to fire him.
BC can afford to fire Addazio. Their administration just doesn't care to because their fanbase is tiny and doesn't matter when they can be cheap.
BC has P5 money. UConn definitely can't afford to fire Diaco with the Big asset settlement money shored up and the buyout would be two years of American TV money.

Hell no he got extended last year and has done exactly what he was paid to do. He has shown UConn their destiny is in the Yankee Conference. Diaco is UConn's Greg Robinson.

Grob won only 10 games in his four years with the Orange. The NCAA took away half of them.

Diaco has already won 11 games in three years. Diaco may be a miserable failure as a football coach and crazy to boot but he is no Greg Robinson.
