Oregon filled the Washington spot in the Pac-12 hierarchy. Pac-10 was USC, UCLA, Washington until Oregon had Phil Knight money and Mike Belotti/Chip Kelly make them a national player.
I don't consider it a destination job just because of location. It is tough to be a destination job when you have to mine a lot of your talent outside of a 200 miles radius of your home state.
You can win a NC at Oregon but its not an easy job. You get paid though because of Nike. I would rather have the Washington job than Oregon job. Washington has more local talent and living in Seattle > Eugene.
Agreed on alot of points there ALSACs.
I think Oregon trends more like Syracuse historically than the bigger time programs. We had a shot in the mid 90s, had a few What games gone our way, to put up a nice Oregon like run from 92-98.
We're both programs, if run correctly, have unique resources to be a power for a limited period of time.
