2016-17 Coaching Carousel

This would be odd. You go 10-2/9-3 in a P-5 conference and then head to the AACK!?
Must be his agent trying to get Dana, and him/her-self, some more $$.
He was the OC at Houston before going to Okie State OC and WVU HC.

Houston will pay him 5-6 million per year and he gets out of WVU before the heat gets there. WVU fanbase doesn't really like the guy.

I think he would be using Houston as a springboard to another P5 while being overpaid at Houston.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kiffin ends up in Houston.
The public noise makes it sound as if Houston believes they can get an existing P-5 coach to drop down to the AACK... I just don't see that unless the coach is on a hot seat.

Kiffin is on the way out at Alabama. Would he be interested in moving over to LSU, or would he want to give it another go as HC? Chances that a mid- to high- P5 program gives him a shot is probably nil. He has to show success as a HC, for once, to return to the big time.

Then again, an overpaid OC spot ain't that bad either...

Are there any casinos near UH? ;)

I don't see Houston paying that much, otherwise they would have offered Hermann that much and multiple reports had Houston upping his salary only to $3.8M.

Good read from yesterday

I vividly recall the week prior to our game against USF last year their board was almost unanimous in letting him go. That changed after they whipped us.

Then he went 8-5 or something and nearly won out.

Who was the DB that got the silly Late hit call on the WR out of bounds that gave them the first down to extend the TD drive? Willie Taggart should buy that kid a nice dinner, because if Willie loses that game, he is probably toast.

Whitner.

Any top 5 P5 conf coach. Oregon is a destination job. They should be able to pluck a current top P5'er.

name them ? Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh ? Why would they leave? Who else Dabo ? Jimbo? Who are all these top coaches that would leave where they're at for Oregon? Bielema? Kelly at ND ?

Most P5 coaches after the top 5 or 6 are meh.

Oregon should poach Babers is what they should do. He's the perfect fit there.

Eh...Historically Oregon is mediocre. They had a perfect confluence of events to reach the heights they managed to over the last 10 years: USC sanctioned, Washington historically awful, they rose to power with Stanford (a team they don't compete for recruits with) along with Chip Kelly. Now USC is on the rise and everyone is mining SoCal for talent. Washington is back on the upswing and has taken over as the hot Pacific Northwest program.

Oregon filled the Washington spot in the Pac-12 hierarchy. Pac-10 was USC, UCLA, Washington until Oregon had Phil Knight money and Mike Belotti/Chip Kelly make them a national player.
I don't consider it a destination job just because of location. It is tough to be a destination job when you have to mine a lot of your talent outside of a 200 miles radius of your home state.

You can win a NC at Oregon but its not an easy job. You get paid though because of Nike. I would rather have the Washington job than Oregon job. Washington has more local talent and living in Seattle > Eugene.
