2017 Yankees Thread

In 31 games DB has 28 walks...his highest of his career is 40 in 2014 with 74 games played. His WHIP this year is 1.46 vs a career WHIP of 1.05. He has allowed only 14 hits this year, with only 1 HR. His Ks/9 are up a little...really confusing set of stats...

Agree with the "confusing set of stats." I only get to see him a few times per month, but seems as though he's lost focus, perhaps unsure of his role? Or perhaps he's over-thinking and steering the ball? I just don't sense a lot of self- confidence when I see him pitch.

I am sure his lack of confidence is a result of ineffectiveness, which is likely caused by a flaw in his mechanics. He has lost his command. A pitcher's delivery is a fragile system. It's amazing how one little thing can screw it all up. We've seen it this season with Tanaka and Clippard.

too bad the Yankees have a walking fossil for a pitching coach. No confidence in Rothchild. Funny how ex Yankees go to Pittsburgh and thrive. They are regressing to the mean after the 21-9 start. I hope Cashman doesn't overpay to chase a pipe dream division title. This team is not a finished product. Stay the course, maybe get a wild card. This team wasn't supposed to contend this year.

If any body calls about Betances I hope Cashman listens. Can't keep running him out there if he's going to suck this bad.
A year too late I think. They could have dealt him last year for the same type of deal they got for Miller, but decided to deal Miller to save money.

he had 9 walks in April & May.

then 9 in June.

in 3 games in July... 8.

there is nothing confusing there, hes lost it.

whether its confidence or mechanics, you are right...he has lost his command.

at some point this year, I am confident every Yankee pitcher will be a merry go round and I am confident every Yankee will be on the DL for a month.

Injuries and a patched together line-up. Hopefully Castro and Holliday coming back this week and Hicks after the ASB will be the difference in the second half.

Would love David Cone as pitching coach.

AJ Burnett
I think it's very possible that Ray Searage is a better pitching coach than Larry Rothschild, although I think it is impossible to know what kind of impact pitching coaches have on their pitching staffs. I don't see Rotschild's Yankee tenure as being a great failure. There is little evidence of it being the case. Since 2011, the Yankees are third in the American League in ERA, fourth in FIP, and first in xFIP.

Girardi and Rothschild are fine.

they will crush the tapes on Betances and figure it out.

personally, I think he needs to go on a 2 day bender, come in on a 1pmer sunday all hung over...and just sling it.

I bet hed be lights out and be fine after that.

Its not their fault, the Yankees have no pitching, I think Betances will be ok eventually, he might not be the lights out guy everyone though, but he can still be a darn good reliever.

my original intent was to say CC needs to take him out on the town...but I refrained.

anyway...back to 1B, so the kid they brought up from Trenton to take Ji-Man's spot at Scranton...got hurt yesterday.

Glad to see the Yankeez bullpen hasn't missed a step after the day off. Brutal.
