2017 Yankees Thread

Good catch.

  1. The "26th man" must be on the club's MLB Reserve List (40-man roster) or has to be added to the club's 40-man roster that day.
  2. The "26th man" does not have to be a pitcher.
  3. In the case of a doubleheader that is scheduled at least 48 hours in advance, the 26-man Active List limit is in effect for both games of the doubleheader, but the "26th man" cannot be switched between games.
  4. A player can be added to a club's Active List as the "26th man" even if he has not spent the minimum required 10 days on optional or outright assignment prior to being added.
  5. The player who was recalled as the "26th man" can remain on the Active List and a different player can be dropped the next day, as long as the "26th man" was not called up prior to spending at least ten days on optional assignment. NOTE: A player called up as the "26th man" prior to spending at least ten days on Optional Assignment could remain on the 25-man roster if the player replaces a player who is placed on the Disabled List (or other MLB inactive list) the day after the doubleheader.
  6. If a player is recalled as the "26th man" and is optioned back to the minors the next day, the "10-day rule" clock (prohibiting a player from being recalled until he has spent at least ten days on Optional Assignment, unless he is replacing a player who is placed on the DL or other MLB inactive list) does not start over again. However many days toward ten that the player spent on Optional Assignment prior to being recalled as the "26th man" counts.
  7. A player recalled as a "26th man" accrues one day of MLB Service Time.
Long story short, Monty gets called up for 1 day as the 26th Man on Sunday and gets sent right back down, then can be called up again when his 10 days expires (which would now be Wed July 19).

We still need a starter for Tuesday. Maybe Cessa gets called up, starts, then he goes down on Wed for Monty.
Doesn't Cessa have to stay down until Wednesday as well?

Both Monty and Cessa's 10 days would normally end on Tuesday. However, if Monty gets the 26th Man call up and gets sent right back down, he would have to spend an extra day at SWB to have 10 days in.

If the rotation holds, Monty wouldn't even have to be back up until Sunday the 23rd.

Congrats on Judge but man Jessica Mendoza's commentary was so bad it ruined the Home Run derby. She made me yearn for Chris Berman.

I didn't miss him at all.

She didn't ruin it for me. There were a couple times I wished she would stop talking, or Ravech would break away from his conversation with a player (instead of the player having to force it).

Judge's first round included HRs everywhere, all types (moon shots, line drives), all fields. None of them talked about that. Just went on with conversations, and an occasional whoa.

Fair enough, but it's all fluff, tinsel and glitter, anyway, so it can't really matter that the commentary wasn't up to a Vin Scully standard. It's like watching volleyball players spike over a net with no defenders.

before I turned it on, (had the MLBN pregame on, pretty good too) I had a brief panic attack wondering if Berman had held on to this BS event.

I could've listened to that poor guy going 'boom goes the dynamite' after every HR last night and it would've been an improvement over anything berman would've said.

I was watching MLBN pre-game as well.

If Judge and Sanchez weren't in the HR Derby, I would have just kept that channel on and watched Summer Catch.

I 1st put on sportscenter thinking theyd be doing 1 of their onsite ones...XXXX, it was Regis and KathyLee, so I quickly went to MLBN and got what I wanted...and more.

but yeah, no Judge, no Sanchez...no watch.

Still concerned about Betances after watching him last night. First couple batters he looked like he may be past the issues he has had lately, then he proceeded to walk batters again...
