Is Paul O'Neil's #21 going to get retired?

I get he is a fan favorite and dirt dog but it's been 16 years the team can reissue #21. I get he was a Warrior but it surprises the number hasn't been reissued unless it's going to be retired.

Should probably wait a year and a half and go after Harper. Won't cost them prospects and he's a better overall hitter imo. Added bonus he bats from the left side.

I like that, but ya never know. Shulman tonight speculated that the NYY bullpen is so overstocked they may offer up Betances (although not specifically for Stanton). I'd be okay with Miami taking Chapman. What the heck, with all those Cubanos down there, it might realistically be a draw for them.

Stanton's contract is so big that the Yankees might not have to give up anything of value.
The Marlins even with that contract aren't giving away Stanton for nothing.
If he was available for little the Red Sox could give the Marlins Andrew Benintendi and assume the contract.

The Sox need power. The Marlins would want real assets even with that contract.

The Yankees should try to trade Ellsbury for another bad contract. Like a Jeff Smarazjia or Jordan Zimmerman.

Harper and Stanton are not even in the same stratosphere in terms of overall player value. Harper >>>>>>>Stanton

Latroy Hopkins had it and people lost their minds, so he switched.

Apparently Todd Frazier is going to ask Paul for it, as he says he was his favorite player growing up.

But after going 0- Seattle, he may want to hold off on asking for it.

Now that the Core 4 and Bernie are cleaned up, next year I'd think Paul gets his due.

If all it took was Benintendi and money I would bet they would. The Marlins aren't going to give him away IMO.
The Red Sox are not a frugal organization, but committing $295 million (that includes the $10 million buyout in 2028, but not whatever he is owed for the rest of this year) plus a prospect, feels pretty reckless for any team. Stanton has only played two complete seasons in his career and he isn't even the Marlins' best outfielder this year.

You realize the Red Sox stupidly gave David Price 215 million. Trust me they're stupid enough to take the Stanton contract I don't want them to.
