The soft underbelly of the Sox strikes again - 7th and 8th inning relief.

Drives me nuts when relievers who throw in the mid to upper 90s are trying to throw breaking balls when behind on the count like Workman and Brasier did. They're afraid to make a mistake instead of challenging hitters right from the jump, instead they want to nibble. Have they watched the NYY lately? Most of their hitters have been scuffling for a while now.

Honestly it’s amazing how pathetic these relievers are.
They can’t throw strikes and then nibble.
Eovaldi should start against the Yankees in the DS. I would make E-Rod a reliever for that series.
Wright and Kimbrel are the only 2 right on the wheel of suck.

Eh I think the red sox are just experimenting right now. Not much really to play for.

I agree with that but the reason for the experimentation is the lack of proven quality in the set-up role. Sox have a lot of positives but it's not a good sign to have minimal trust in your set up men heading into the playoffs.

That might be a good idea cuz Eovaldi has had success against NY.

Houston is the worst matchup because of their lineup.
If Cleveland had a healthy Bauer they would be scary but Kluber is their only real ace right now healthy and the Red Sox hit Carassco pretty well.

Houston is going to roll out Verlander-Cole-Kuechel-Morton-Verlander-Cole-Kuechel in a 7 game series with
Springer-Altuve-Bregman-Correa leading a deep lineup.

Red Sox just need to find a way to get 6 outs from their dumpster fire bullpen.
They have the starters, hitting and closer.

Tend to agree but the Tribe are going to have all they can handle in Houston just to get to the ALCS.

Hughes 2 Clay B. 3 Joba 4 Lester Tonight he is asked to rank the 4 teams chances in the playoffs. He has 1. Cleveland 2 Houston 3 Yanks 4 red sox What a a-hole. Hey Buster, it's a crap shoot. No question. the team won 105 games so far. the yanks have to play a playoff game for God's sake.

he is from Vermont. wrote a book a few years ago about the yanks. Hey, he can think what he wants but it's every time. I swear I'm surprised he didn't throw the A's in front of the Sox.

I really can't stand Dombrowski. He has won because he had the former G.M's players and prospects. When he is done, the Red Sox will look a lot like the Tigers. With the same results

They put an enormous amount of pressure on Leon to block that junk.

I would rather Porcello pitch these last 2 innings. He isn’t afraid of contact and has great numbers at Fenway against the Yankees.
Kimbrel is good but the guy can lose control and it becomes painful.

That will be a Maalox moment for sure. Might be the best option but he has not done well in that role.
