2020 MLB Season...

My God. They are professional athletes pro baseball players hardly an at risk demographic. Just won a world series in an unprecedent season mentally and physically. Let them celebrate.

Who is your favorite college basketball team?

Turner is Extremely selfish and sets a pretty bad example. You can says it’s overblown as a team spreader — fine. But the part about turner itself cannot Really be disputed.

i won't be surprised if they make a serious run at trevor bauer and roll out buehler/bauer/kershaw/price as their core rotation

their greatest need is closer, and there isn't a better option than urias on the market

Good point. Think May will be a top rotation guy too though.

Could be his only chance to ever participate in a once in a lifetime event for most baseball players. It’s not like he was a front office guy who was never around the other players and staff.

Covid sucks, it takes away a lot of nice things. You find out you have it, act accordingly.

may, gonsolin, wood . . . they have a lot of options to fill out the rotation

they've been the best team in baseball for 4 years and look as though they'll remain so for at least another half decade

Syracuse obviously. I'm sure your about to make a smart remark. But idk how being a Syracuse basketball fan matters in this case.

Fair enough.

Now picture this. It's an early April Monday night. SU's hoops team is battling in the championship game. Three quarters of the way through the second half, the SU AD pulls Coach Boeheim out of a timeout and tells him his test has come back as positive and he needs to immediately leave the game and quarantine. SU wins it all. Are you really not letting JB come back out to share in that One Shining Moment?

A. At least he rode his horse to the finish line
B. I’m 23 so my earliest memory as a Sox fan is watching the year after with my dad, just a little before my time ;)
I wasn't saying one way or the other anything about Snell tonight. I didn't even watch the game. Jus
Glad too see the little engine that could run out of steam. Dodgers exposed them.
as they exposed the yankees?

My reaction to the World Series, (strictly on the field):

I was rooting for the Rays because they’ve never won. But I have a rule that if a legendary franchise hasn’t won in a generation, I don’t resent them winning because a generation of their fans have grown up hearing of the glorious history of their team but never being able to enjoy it for themselves. This added to the list of franchises that haven’t won in at elast a generatio n since the Red Sox broke through in 2004:

2004 Red Sox 86 years

2005 White Sox 88 years

2006 Cardinals 24 years

2008 Phillies 28 years

2010 Giants 56 years

2015 Royals 30 years

2016 Cubs 108 years

2017 Astros 55 years

2019 (Expos)Nationals – the franchise’s first title in 50 years, the city’s in 95 years

2020 Dodgers 32 years

I was glad the two teams with the best records faced each other in the final. the dodgers will be viewed as a legitimate champion. if the 29-31 Astros had won, that would not have bene the case. I think MLB dodged a bullet with their unwise extension of the playoffs to a best of three first round for 16 teams.

One other note: They say that the ‘metrics’ support not letting a pitcher who has bene dominant go through the line-up for a third time or they might not be so dominant but what do the metrics show about a guy coming out of the bullpen and being as dominant? Why are managers afraid of leaving a pitcher in too long but they aren’t afraid of bringing in an unknown quantity from the bullpen? It makes no sense to me

Relievers, especially closers, are basically 2-pitch pitchers (except for Rivera, Sutter, and a few others, who got it done with one). If you have a guy with 3 or more, you make him a starter. Which is the argument for using Urias as a starter.

Of course, with the continuing devaluation of the role of starting pitching, the whole argument gets muddled.

major sports championships 3 - chicken little shut it all down 0
Let's see the major leagues deal with a full season before we claim victory over Mother Nature. Will MLB have 162 games with no fans? Will the NBA/NFL do 80-game seasons (plus playoffs) in a bubble?

The point is, extraordinary adjustments were made this year to complete truncated seasons. And the assumption has been that next year we return to "normal". Right now that doesn't seem to be more than even money. If April 2021 is anything like April 2020, what are they going to do?

Right. NBA wants to start on Dec. 22. Seems like it would have to be with a bubble again or no fans. Can’t see any way we’re back to normal in less than 2 months.

Christmas Day hoops is huge for them, they don't want to give that up.

im not declaring victory over covid, just victory over all the facebook fancy nancys who never wanted them to play and then to keep asking for a shut down when the inevitable hiccup happened.

covid sorta cost the Yankees, they got a ton of unnecessary doubleheaders because other teams like casinos and strip clubs, and lost more games than they shouldve costing them seeding, but in the end...baseball won.

im ok with that.

Dave Roberts is a cancer survivor and has a weak immune system.

Justin Turner has no business going back on the field even if he isn’t at risk personally. This disease kills people who have health issues and he was on the field taking pictures sweating right next to his manager.

Dave Roberts is vulernable. Justin Turner has no business on the field.

Yankees ended up exactly where they should have.
Unless they were winning the division and I don’t think they were winning 41 of 60 games they couldn’t have been higher than 4 seed.
The 3 division winners went 1-3.
If the Yankees won the division they still play the Rays in the same series.

Even if they had somehow made it to the WS, the Dodgers would’ve handled them.

It had nothing to do with the Yankees not being as good as the Rays.
