2021 Yankees Season

It is my turn to complain during an eleven-game winning streak. John Sterling was a disaster in the ninth inning last night. He has been particularly bad in road games this season because he is not calling the games in-person, but last night was so bad. At some point I think he forgot most of the audience can not see the action. On multiple occasions he neglected to state if a pitch was a strike or ball. I was relying on the crowd noise to figure out what was happening.

If the umpire can't tell the difference between balls and strikes, how can anyone else?

Wade is a middle infielder, and Odor a second baseman, by trade. Neither have been particularly great or awful at third from what I've seen of them.

I get that Odor is a net asset, even considering his woeful start with NYY, in both halves of the inning. I still just never liked the guy. And Wade has appeared at third a few times recently that I've seen, and actually looked pretty good. So that's where I'm at. I should remember not to complain too loudly during an 11 game win streak. :)

I actually looked at a few fielding metrics for those two at third base, and they both were surprisingly good. It's a small sample of games, of course, and I wouldn't want to ride with either long term at that position, but that's what the numbers say right now.

As far as the complaining and hand-wringing I see, I just find it amusing. It's more than an 11-game streak; since falling to 41-41, this team has gone 33-11 (.750), and that includes a few epic meltdown losses. Obviously, that's not sustainable in baseball, so it should be very interesting to read and hear the commentary once things normalize. Cue the torches and pitchforks.

Bryan Hoch:
Corey Kluber will be activated and pitch for the Yankees on Monday. Andrew Heaney will move into bullpen/long relief.

Corey Kluber “feels really good and is ready to take on that next step of facing Major League competition,” Aaron Boone said.

Luis Severino has been cleared to resume his throwing program following a visit with Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

Gleyber Torres could be activated when the #Yankees return home from this trip.

LOL. In the pregame show one of the guys predicted that Gallo would hit a homer tonight.

He owns Kaprielian.

Taillon is brutal tonight, I know we don't really have a long man right now but man get him out of there. 6-0 lead wiped out.

Yankees not doing themselves any favors, Judge and Rizzo both gave away at bats by swinging at balls well out of strike zone on 3-0 and 3-1 counts.
Home plate ump sure has it in for Gallo though, just brutal strike calls on Joey.

Agreed, Kaprelian was near 100 pitchers, take the walk and keep it moving. Yankees pitchers have been great but man brutal today, another HR.

If they blow this one, I'm done with this effffing team.

I’ll just assume Voit is hurt.
