Frazier makes a diving catch about once a month, but other than that he might be the shakiest outfielder in all of baseball.

Gardner is 0.2, Frazier is -0.8 (from fangraphs). Needless to say, they are both terrible.

And anyway, at the time the economics around letting him go made sense. IIRC, NYY would have had to pay him millions to miss an entire season (post surgery), and then potentially hit free agency.

I just heard today what the Ottavino trade was. The Yankees sent Ottavino and a prospect to the Red Sox. That was the trade. The yanks had to include a prospect for the Red Sox to take Adam's contract. As a Red Sox fan, i wish they made a few more trades like that.

I think the Red Sox, Yanks and Cubs are sending a message about the luxury cap by staying under it. There will be a new agreement this year and those teams are costing the players money by staying under.
