2022-23 Portal Cup

I do think in 3-4 years time, the amount of transfers will be lower than we see now. The data will bear out that lots of FBS transfers don't find homes at the level they thought they could be at.

I wouldn’t want Taj back but he seems to be open to it:

Maybe he wants to play for a contender and a chance to win a ring? I know I would
anyone ever break down how top-10 rosters were built?
Draft (sorry, recruit) vs. trade/free agent (sorry, portal)?

Bo Nix ain't dancing this year.

Maybe the kid is a fringe day 2/3 player and thinks playing at the SEC or higher level program than UoA can get them that 1st round money.
Being a good player on a crappy team is different than being a good player on a great team.
Betting on yourself works

I agree with the general thought process and get it...

BUT...I think there is still something to sticking with the guys who recruited you out of the gate and coming out the other side.

I think of a dude like Dame Lillard, if you've heard him talk about Weber State and how it helped him become who he is today, or Steph and Davidson.

The SEC factory is great and it works, no doubt, just sayin, it's not the only way.

Dude got a million dollar Dr Pepper NIL deal before playing a snap, was given every opportunity to produce, and quits when he fails to do so.

Probably end up at Maryland, Oregon, or Wisconsin

I don't think he's very good. He's big and has the "measureables", but when I watched him from the 4th row in the Dome, he seemed slow footed to me (i.e., not agile) and a bit clumsy. I don't think he's the elite athlete that some make him out to be.

I don't suppose there is a way for the public to see who is actually in the portal? The 24/7 site seems clunky and I dont think lists everyone
Site likely lists players once they are officially entered into the portal. Once player informs the school it is the school that enters the player’s name and they have 48 hours to do so. Social media posts do not constitute entrance into the portal. Yesterday was the first official day so expect a lot of activity starting tomorrow. I actually like the site and find the filtering and sorting criteria very helpful.

You build the core through recruiting, fill gaps and needs in the portal.

Keeping your best players sold is a key.
yes, it is which is why I and others including JW believe that the best use of NIL money is retention

For many schools who took some chances on players coming out of high school, are now finding out they aren’t good enough and are entering the portal.
