2022 Coaching Carousel

Wow I figured he had one more year
Wonder if it has anything to do with the links below? There’s a lawsuit, a big controversy regarding a Stanford football player who allegedly raped a Stanford female soccer player who was a minor and subsequently the captain of Stanford’s women’s soccer team committing suicide after spilling coffee on that football player. The family is suing Stanford. The school took very harsh punitive actions against her. Lots of talk about unfair disciplinary actions by Stanford dependent on what team, who you are etc. Don’t know what steps they ever took regarding the football player and if the football coach was involved in any way. The timing is suspicious though. Not many details seem to be public.

Possibly part of the reason, however Shaw cited Stanford’s unwillingness to partake in NIL and the transfer portal (I think he only had one transfer in during his time) as primary reasons publicly

He is still young. I wonder if he goes back to the NFL or becomes Bama's OC when BOB gets a job.

There’s no connection. This has been brewing for weeks.

If a coach is getting fired, and going bowling. Does it happen before the bowl, or after?

He only got 3 seasons, one of which was 2020. That seems a bit harsh. They went 5-7 (3-5) this year. From 2001 and on they have had TWO seasons better than that 2003 6-6 (2-5) and 2013 7-6 (4-3). I guess they are due in 2023 for 6-6 again. 2017 was the only other non losing in conference season at 4-4.
Maybe they think they’re going to the PAC 12. Or want to make themselves more attractive.

Otherwise they’re dumb.

West Virginia will keep football coach Neal Brown for the 2023 season, the school announced on Wednesday.
The decision comes in the wake of a 5-7 season that saw the Mountaineers win two of their final three games, upsetting both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Brown has had just one winning season in four years, and he has an overall record of 22-25.

Brown would have been owed nearly $17 million if fired. That remaining guaranteed money is one of the reasons that the school fired athletic director Shane Lyons in mid-November. That contract still runs through 2026, which means a buyout of nearly $13 million at this time next year.
