The SEC model would be
Tennessee
Auburn
Alabama
Vanderbilt
Missouri
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M
Floeida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
LSU
Arkansas
No rivalry must play games are lost except Auburn-Georgia.
LSU won’t mind not losing Alabama automatically.
You play 3 games in pod, 4 against another and then 1 game against the 2 other pods based on how you finished the previous years.
1 vs. 1
2 vs. 2
3 vs. 3
4 vs. 4 etc or it could be rotated by computer model.
It would get great TV matchups each year.
Those pods are far from being even competitively.
Auburn-UGA (126 games) won't be sacrificed in any way. Kentucky-Tennessee (117 not happening). Bama-Miss State (106). Ole Miss-Vandy (96 a big one for both schools). Kentucky-Vandy (94). Bama-LSU (86 too big a game). UGA-Vandy (81). And you miss out on Arkansas-Texas (79 huge game) renewal. Plus you don't account for Arkansas-A&M (78) or Auburn-Florida (84). Everyone of those rivalries has more games played than SU's #1 opponent all time. There are more than enough marquee games to go around without also sacrificing these games. With crossovers you can potentially keep all of these.
