2022 Mets thread

Yeah price to me is way to steep

I'll be glad if we don't have to give up Alvarez. There's a narrow window of opportunity these days to win championships and 2 1/2 years of Soto plus we keep Alvarez and they join Pete in the middle of the order sounds very good to me. If we build a productive farm system, we can replace prospects any time. We have 5 of the first 90 picks in this year's draft.

Let's do it again again!
Especially given the rarity that Atlanta is down 3 in the 7th to Washington. An ATL loss is a rare thing the past 45 days

Only positive today is the Braves lost. I’ll take three out of four on the road. Definitely could use the rest the All Star break gives. Let’s hope deGrom is healthy and we come out swinging in the second half.

We need to score runs on a more consistent basis.

This article, *they are coming out one after another), says that Alvarez would have to be included and that the trade would essentially gut the Met's farm system:

Still, if we are trying to win now, (or in the next couple of years), you'd have to think about it. This guy actually 'gets it' about Ted Williams #1 piece of advice: get a good pitch to hit:

I think the low batting average this year is due to a lack of protection in the line-up and the depressing situation of having to play for a lousy team after having won a championship. He could be revitalized by joining a contender. He could be this year's Cespedes but a much more reliable player after that.

Anybody find themselves rooting for Soto to face Pete in the final? They could make a dynamic pair!

Love Pete but he looked miserable trying to defend his title. Just got to go out and have some fun with these things. Props to J Rod. Kid looks like the real deal!

Well, Pete came up short. But I think Rodriquez won it more than Pete lost it. He was the first guy to hit 30+ homers two rounds in a row. I was hoping he'd shot his bolt in the first round. He didn't.

This may be sour grapes, but I don't Pete was helped by the pitcher. Timing is everything and the rate at which he threw the ball varied too much and some of the pitches were too low.

But Rodriguez would have been hard to beat in any case.

The Dodger stadium crowd is also a little too laid back. It should sound like this:

They’re all hitting in front of the same crowd and Alonso picked the pitcher.

It would be interesting to know if Pete had anything to say to him afterwards.

My comment on the crowd was just disappointment that they weren't as raucous as normal. Obviously whatever impact they have is equal to all the contestants.

Surprised no Dodgers participated. Hard for the crowd to get fully into it when no one is representing their fan base.

I hope this isn’t the beginning of the end for Jake this year. It would be a shame if the last game he pitched this year was in Syracuse.

I agree but wonder if he'll pitch again in Syracuse.
